    • Happy wife, easier life job done. Always good to hear successful outcomes.
    • My wife bought this around 15 years ago, some money left from my grandmother. Around £500 I seem to remember. Anyway 5 years ago it stopped, not the first time but needed a new battery. So our local jeweller didn't fancy changing it for some reason so we went to an AD who changed the battery, took them a week 35€ please. Got it back it stopped a week later. Went back to AD who sent it somewhere and it came back 4 weeks later, needs a new movement, all gummed up and can't be fixed. 135€ please!  Now my wife wears it all the time so perhaps something got past the 6 screws and seal. Anyway it was put back in its box and left with no battery. Now I have a little gizmo that vibrates quartz watches sending the hands spinning wildly so popped a battery in and tried it. Lasted a week. Checked on the cost of a new movement 400€. Not doing that. So, bearing in mind its not working, I took the back off again and put a tiny amount of watch oil on the pivot points I could see and probably a few wrong places and left it whizzing round for an hour on the machine. 4 years later it stopped, I changed the battery and it is happily ticking away to date. Point is really, having spent 170€ with an AD for apparently some duff advice and therefore nothing at all, my wife is happy, got me 2 or 3 passes for watch buying on the grounds I saved some money and more importantly the watch is keeping excellent time. I know this will probably get moved somewhere else but just felt like sharing.
    • It is not 2000's I don't think... Ref the date are not Citizens the month first and the year second?? Seiko's are the year first and month second... I have written an article in years past but I've forgotten... Lol Having said all that I am leaning more to 1990's also
