  14. I always usually buy what I like, however TWF has influenced on two occasions. Last year I bought a Casio Radio Controlled and most recently my first automatic, a Seiko 5. I would never have considered them before, but I'm in love. I seriously thought I would hate an automatic but now I'm looking for another one! Thank you TWF!

  15. OK, I've buckled and have changed from Accurist to auto. Not bad about 14 hours with the Accurist.

  16. I agree with both you and @mrzee -- one of my most useful "life lessons" was to realize that nobody (least of all I) has a monopoly on wisdom. And, most on this forum know more than I ever will about watches. I can also appreciate @gimli's point though (as he probably knows a great deal) -- in the end, the only person who has to live with my choices is me

  17. Fools have a habit of believing that everything written on a watch forum is admirable. For my part I buy only to please myself and like only what suits my taste.

  18. As mentioned yesterday, I'm in Austria now and I did indeed bring the recent incoming Hugo Boss for an outing: Still really enjoying this one, and it must surely be the best bargain I've had for a very long time

  19. It has come to my attention, not only through Rob's post here above, that Roger (RWP) is "receiving" a rather high quotient of rude posts about him on the Forum. May I just ask this trend be discontinued because it is bordering on disrespect and beginning to lack good humour. As far as the choice of Roamer watch is concerned, I personally feel that your choice, Rog, suits your aesthetic tastes, and given that the brand is producing a quality product then if you like it then go for it. Yes, I know, you already have. Oh and by the way, I do agree with you about Amazon. I have been buying things from Amazon for a number of years and they have always sorted out any problems quickly and efficiently. The only annoying thing is that I managed to get two useful free monthly trials of Prime, giving me free postage and packing for the trial period, but Amazon evidently caught on to this and I haven't been able to get another free trial since.

  21. Madam -- I'm pleased to pronounce you a convert to clockwork. Soon you'll find yourself walking with a slightly more pronounced left arm swing (just like the rest of us) And -- if I might be so bold -- the 5 is prettier than the Accurist.

  22. I tend to buy what I like/love -- but quite a few respondents on this forum have been very useful in pointing out possibilities I had not considered. My recent request for advice on moon-phase pieces produced some very useful suggestions (and, I fear, might have induced @MyrridinEmrys to damage his bank account). Can't be bad

  25. Give the guy a break every single post or thread lately you two are there with your little snide comments and jibes... maybe only me that finds it boring and repetitive but I don't really care... Its called trolling and isn't a good trait...

  26. I only ever buy what I really want, but the problem is this: the forum makes me aware of so many more watches 'that I really want', that the wants list is getting longer and longer.

  27. Initially, yes, now though? Not a chance, I'd just end up with draws full of cheap tat that would never see the light of day

  28. In the beginning a lot of my watch buying decisions were based on knowledge I had gleaned from members here sadly a lot of those members are no longer active on the forum or infrequent posters these days. It depends whether you choose to follow that advice or not? It has in my case served me well. Research is always key to me before I make a purchase. My magpie days are over.

  30. evening has TWF influenced me , yea certainly ,I would not have the collection I have now if not for this forum & lurking on others , I would never have heard of GS for a start !have I been persuaded or dissuaded from a purchase from being here or comments here no and nor would I be but opinions of those wiser than me are always taken on-board. remember opinions are like bum holes we all have one deano

  33. For that money, you could have been a bit more adventurous and looked at any number of brands, got something a bit different, dare I say broadened your horizons. instead you have chosen from a company that manufactures at it's parent company in China with a question mark over whether you are really getting an original Roamer design or not. Bearing in mind the said parent company provides watch parts on an industrial scale and also has other brands, that seem specifically for the Chinese market. It's a decent looking watch and I hope you enjoy it, but considering the number of watches you buy, I'm still waiting for the day you step out of your comfort zone. Try it, it might be a revelation!

  34. It may not be a 5 digit (personal preference) but that is a cracking combination. I'm not a big fan of white dials on bracelets.

  38. If the hands are shiny then they probably won't look as good as in the pics. I have a cream Fossil with blue hands which also looked great in the photos, not so good in the flesh.

  39. Nay from me but if I was spending that much it would have to be really special, but that just me. There are plenty of nice Seikos in the bracket. Only you know how much or not you want it Rog
