  2. Morning, Today, it’ll be this 1960s Parker auto with its 25j PUW 1361. There are several possible makers recorded, but so far I’ve never been able to find a convincing home for this one, with the absence of “Swiss-made” combined with a German movement. Possibly imported from Germany and distributed by Saul Parker (Parker Watch Company) of NY who registered a Parker brand name (amongst many, many others) but there’s no import code on the movement, so that remains pure speculation. Regards.

  23. Today I am wearing one of those awful watches certain people hate so much. Apparently the sapphire isn't real sapphire, the 316L stainless case is not steel, it's beautiful leather strap is probably plastic, the ceramic bezel is made out of something that isn't ceramic, and it's Miyota movement is possibly a cheap quartz movement made in a sweat shop in China.

  24. “O” is for Erwin Rudolf’s Oberon Watch Co about which not much is documented. Founded in 1951, they made one in-house movement but today’s effort runs on a similarly uncommon 17j Brac 903. Also distinguished, if that’s the correct term, by their "stylish" trademark. Regards.

  27. Bond is right, if you don't hand it in at a Police station then you are guilty of theft, its not yours so hand it in. The procedure will be explained to you about time scales and if nobody claims it then it will become yours after the time limit has expired. I am a retired police officer.

  29. Got my grail watch last week so this hasn't actually been off my wrist for most of the intervening time that I've been awake. I can't see my other watches getting much of a look in for a while either which is a shame as I just got a lovely little dressy Eterna that is fantastically comfortable to wear. The stars aligned though and money, availability and permission were all in the right place at the right time so this just had to get in my watch box.

This Parnis lark is becoming an Education..Will the Real Parnis please stand up please stand up if there is One.....You mean there are Copies of Copies of Copies all made from different component's and differing materials and those who consume such products are expected to be able to tell the difference from a picture which may or may not be the Genuine copy of the copy or vice versa.

  31. We live in a changing world where an alleged £15K watch find is of no interest whatsoever to our Police... I remember finding a 10 shilling note on my way home from school in 1962 ( a small fortune back then) and handing it in to my local police station (its called doing the right thing)... I made the desk Sergeant's life hell calling in every single day to see if it had been claimed.... after the set period cant remember the exact time could have been 6 weeks or so I was rewarded for my honesty with the 10 Shilling Note that was all mine.. the feeling was indescribable to a young Oik..so

  32. I quite often get asked to replace batteries in watches belonging to Dearly Beloved's friends...and usually they're not too bad, but the last one I was asked to do was in such a filthy state I couldn't believe it belonged to a girl. It was absolutely minging...to the point where I had to dismantle the watch completely and put the case, crown, bracelet and back through the ultrasonic before continuing. It was truly grim. The caseback had so much grease round it, bits were dropping off onto my work mat and the white ceramic inserts in the bracelet were grey in between the links. You'd have thoug

  36. Actually yes it does. So long as the finder "makes a reasonable attempt to return it to its original owner" then there is no legal obligation since February this year to hand it in. In this instance, the finder @R8JW can post on all UK watch forums and keep the watch safe for a few weeks/months. Returning to the forum threads and bumping them a few times would easily constitute a "reasonable attempt". I am not stating what SHOULD be done here.... I am stating the legal position. And so long as an attempt(s) are made to find the original owner it is indeed finders keepers and the
