  4. Banner 14k gold capped art-deco tank. I have put the date right now - I have to take a picture and zoom in to actually see it first. The lume lasts 0.3 milliseconds. This would have been a novelty at the time, certainly my earliest date window watch. HAGD

  12. Morning, Today it'll be this 1960s Salvest, made in Germany by Blessing-Werke, they of alarm clocks fame. This one runs on a French-made Cattin C66, seemingly Blessing’s movement of choice for their wrist watches, a belated sideline which came too late to prevent their doors closing in 1977. Regards.

  26. Long thread. Lots of pics. I'm in the mood to treat myself to another watch. But apart from the obvious issue of what I really do want v what I can really afford, another problem is the watches I fancy that aren't available to buy in Thailand. In the past, I have had reasonable success with buying on-line. Initially in the UK, where I bought from within the UK and from Switzerland without any problems and then when I was in Thailand. The first was a cheap Seiko 5 from Singapore - this one in fact (I have no idea of the reference No.): This should have been an absolute banker for

  35. I annoyed a good friend of mine. She is lovely, but stuck up. They recently bought a Cockapoo. It's a nightmare. They don't understand why it has so many issues .... I said "what is it ?" , they proudly said a "Cockapoo" , I replied "oh , you mean a mongrel" ..... [ I got a stare ].

  40. This week's project was to make myself a new circle cutting jig for my router. The old one was a hastily made MDF jig that I made for a job at work, but it relied on holes being drilled in it to fix the pivot point and there's always the matter of having to either subtract or add the radius of whatever sized cutter was in the router...depending on whether you are cutting a disc or cutting a hole. The existing holes had started to wear and it wasn't accurate any more. As I still have some 8mm acrylic left over from the router table project, I will use that to create a jig that uses a

  41. Longines all day, all night, twice on Sunday. The other two brands are perfectly nice but you'll see your arse if you ever decided to flip them or trade in towards the next gadget. Raymond Weil are one of my favourite brands, but why pay £800 for a watch you can snap up on ebay for £200?? In fact there is a blue one on there right now at £175 which is a bargain (I know that, coz its mine)

  42. Yep Big M’s daughter paid stupid money for what is supposed to be one of those French bulldog things, horrible out of control little runt of a thing. Ate my Raybans !!! I took one look at it and made the mistake of suggesting she might of been done and if was a proper pedigree I’d eat all of my collection of Stone Island caps in one go without a knife and fork, she never spoke to me for a while.
