  3. Morning, Today, another one from my watchmaker’s recent bunch of “clear-out” freebies, this 1940s Levicta with fixed lugs and running on a bridge variant of the 15j Peseux 170. Mikrolisk records the existence of the brand but, sadly, is unable to identify who made it. Regards.

  26. So I had some money and of course I wanted to buy a watch BUT I wanted something a bit special from a brand I had never had before. I considered a Tudor Pelagos, a Breitling Superocean heritage, a JLC any I could afford or a Bremont Martin Baker 2. I visited my local helpful jeweller and tried on the above watches - apart from a JLC. Then I made my mistake...... I saw a moonwatch. I didn’t want to buy an Omega having had a few. I tried the moonwatch on........ It came home with me. After a decent 20% discount I was and am and will be forever in love!!! Anyway moral of the story is....t

  27. All be it on a larger scale we used to repair all sorts of damaged parts, holes drilled in the wrong places and so on. Weld up, reshape, redrill and refinishing in various materials and if done properly even on close inspection you’d never know. I would imagine that any good jeweller worth his salt should be able to repair this.

  28. Some of you will perhaps remember my fondness for Limit watches; my watch collecting began with this brand, and periodically, I like to refresh my acquaintance with Limit to see what goodies they are currently offering. Limit is a company with a long history and it still trundles along in its own idiosyncratic way, under the umbrella of the Time Products group, producing watches that are inexpensive yet pretty decent by and large. When I say inexpensive, I mean that the RRP of the watches rarely exceeds £30. A few days ago, I picked up a useful never-been-worn Limit "beater" in the form of a b

  30. My only 'Limit' watch is this vintage AS1903 one......Not sure about the 'revival' ones........ I bought this initially just to 'steal' the movement for another watch, but decided that it was far too nice to break up......

  35. Let's look at the logo thing. Over the years they have had 3 versions of the "logo" or "wordmark" (including a couple of transitional versions with or without the word "London"). Version 1 (2005-2011/12) Version 2 (2011-2016) "London" was added in 2012 by popular request Version 3 (Current since 2016) Each version has had its known supporters and detractors. A small minority have regarded the logo as a deal breaker and there is usually some discussion on CWF when someone brings it up. Most have their favourite but have learned to live with all three.

  41. In my experience, Paul Buhre timepieces were generally retailed with 'quality' movements, so no surprise your's keeps good time A common movement they used was the FEF 350. The 350 base ebauche was regularly used in Rolex (Tudor) & Breitling timepieces during the 50's-60's. Couple of mine in SS cases.... These can picked up relatively cheaply, many were presented as long service, retirement gifts. GARRARD's, & formerly the GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS Co, held large stocks for various companies.

  44. Christopher Ward watches seem to ably fulfil the wishes of today's watch collectors and buyers who want quality, variety that keeps within the idiom of the company, and decent prices that don't head off into the stratosphere. Indeed, for the most part, CW gets it about right, new logo or old.
