  6. Morning, Back to more familiar territory for me today with this steel-cased Roamer running on a 17j ETA 2390, my only one of several examples of the brand which doesn’t have an MST movement. It wears slim on the wrist, but has a decent amount of heft to it. Regards.

  22. 1978 King Seiko 5853 again. 2 things I like about this most. 1 the typical 70s no fuss branding on the dial. More like the name plate on a 1974 Tower Block in Gateshead than the fancy affair you get now on Grand Seiko etc. And 2 the the manual control on the stepper motor see link below.

  30. Had a 1960's Mido that defied all conventional case back openers. Before getting the plasma cutter out I tried one more option. Super glued a nut (not salted variety) to case back... Left to cure & undone with a socket set... Placed case back in small pot of DC's nail varnish remover for an hour... After rinsing & drying, no additional marks left on case back. Cleaned & applied fresh silicone grease to seal...result! Trust me, it works.

  33. I was 21 at the time ( the car pics are from 1975). Bought it for £850, sold it 2 years later for the same money when I couldn't afford a new set of tyres to pass the MOT. If only I'd known then that it was going to become a classic................

  36. Nice looking pair of watches, I prefer the White. I too was thinking of buying them and even got as far as typing a pm before sanity kicked in. I need 2 more watches like I need a hole in me head. Enjoy them. [emoji16] I am not buying any more watches. [emoji17] Well maybe the odd one or two. [emoji16]

  37. Yeah, thanks for that, I am quite lucky that I am in a position where I can retire if I want. So I am working for two reasons, 1. because I have a great job and I really like it and ; 2. I am using the wage to pay for the big jobs required on the house so I don't have to dip into the retirement kitty. So, if they really piss me off, I just chuck my pass on the desk and go home - for good.

  41. Good position to be in. Although I’m generally lazy and do absolutely as little as I can get away with I actually don’t mind going to work, gives me something to do, keeps me out of trouble and reasonably sober.
