Morning, This Swiss-made Repco Watch, a brand from the Nicolet family of Tramelan. With the demise of the last Niclolet family member in 1992, ownership passed to Italian entrepreneur Rolando Braga and whilst production continued in Tramelan, design and marketing were centred in Brescia, Italy until 2001 when the Repco Watch Co was declared bankrupt. Today’s example runs on a 17j AS 1194 and probably dates from the 1950s. Regards.16 points

Happy Friday to you all. Hamilton X Wind today, which I think would be a great watch if a) the glass wasn't so damn reflective and b) the hands were legible....15 points

A close up of my Seiko makes it look a bit battered. But it does get worn a lot and I guess that's what it's for!13 points

Some time late last year an old distant Uncle of mine left me some money and I thought I'd indulge myself with some of it. It took me a while to find a good example without paying silly money but today it finally arrived. Rolex Submariner from 2005. By far the better version in my opinion. No drilled lugs and the sensible bracelet that doesn't weigh a ton. Very good condition for a 15 year old watch and bonus is, the bracelet is full length.10 points

Zelos Horizons 'ice-cream pancake'. AKA 'Lunar Frost' p.s. the rubber strap came from a 'diver style' Timex that I moved on a while back. HAGD10 points

The same Orient as yesterday. The uneven edge on the minute hand is actually a gouge in the glass.8 points

They say everyone should have a G-Shock in their collection..... so obviously this is number 3 (and the 5th I've owned overall). However the January sales snare many of us and this one got me. I'd noticed the model a few times and 25% off broke my paper thin watch will power: I was attracted to the colourway and the case being less blocky whilst still being a larger model. A cool and completely unnecessary feature/complication of sorts is the wheel on the left rotates with each mode change. Light function is rubbish like any good G-Shock's should be. This was my bench I had bought so much kit i had no room to work. Half of the things needed were on the other side of the room. I looked at buying one, and the cheapest seem to be about £650 and not what I needed at all. The dearer benches were better, but three grand. So I got the tools out 28mm block beech worktop and upstand was about £150. The breakfast bar legs about £60. Not finished yet The armrest were from Amazon for about £60, and the tablet holder clears it off the benchtop. The light is huge, from cousins, and was £65. I have a £150 Bisley 15 drawer f3 points

Buy what you like first and foremost. I'd be shopping at Breguet for a Type XX personally if it were a new watch, but JLC, Cartier, Glashutte Original, Zenith and many more would be worthy Are you planning to adopt a fourth great nephew? If so how does one apply?3 points

I have read many articles and websites about these, and THERE IS DEFINITELY NO 16J HACKING VARIANT. Umm, except this one (I'm not taking the back off again, you'll just have to trust me!): TBH I just don't think the factory workers were too picky over which bridge got used on a Friday afternoon, whatever it said on the dial. p.s. despite the screw case they are not remotely waterproof, and half the patina on the dial is down to me washing my hands (carefully) in the cloakroom of Bury Station last year. All adds to the character. J3 points

Seen this in the sale and really liked it. Silver sunburst dial with rose gold, with a Sellita movement. Decent strap but will be looking for a fine mesh to replace it. really pleased with it. Richy2 points

He's not wrong! they can support your arms, increasing the stability when working on a movement. Moat watch benches have rather fixed ones, these are a lot more adjustable and actually designed for people with limited arm strength. I have just repurposed them and they clamp to the bench so can be removed easily if needed.2 points
