  1. Trying my new watch with a bracelet - Thanks to Bulova's bizarre lug hole placement on the strap version of this watch, a flush bracelet isn't an option, but I think this does the job pretty well?

  22. A pair of silver cased pocket watches, back from the watchmaker on Friday and ticking away nicely. Sir John Bennett Ltd from 1897, with sponsors mark, I think, of John Woodman, Smith Street, London; and a John Bennett from 1872 with sponsors mark for John Hammon. I started a thread in the Clock & Pocket Watch section if anyone's interested.

  31. I stand and shout at the sea. My opinion ? If you have to try your best to think of a reason for using a bezel, you probably don't need one, although I was in a pub the other night and overheard a rather attractive woman saying "if only that man had a bezel on his watch, I'd have been taking him home for some fun".

  33. I've mentioned before that a friend of mine was the senior technician for Rolex in the UK and part of his job was to be involved in the process of building watches like this for individual clients that wanted something a little exclusive, and that included several members of the royal family. Selecting the diamonds involved trips to Hatton Garden to scrutinize and pick the correct sizes and brilliance, and could take a great deal of time just to collect together the number needed to do the job and involved a great deal of knowledge of gemstones. Even then, back in the nineteen eighties there was no shortage of demand for the service and I suspect that today with so much conspicuous wealth about, they are probably busier than ever as the disparity between the have's and have not's has grown exponentially. Football used to be the 'game of the people'. Unfortunately it's now become just another example whereby the punters are conned out of millions to keep a few in the lifestyle they have grown to expect and to buy them baubles like these.

  39. You all know me. I've got no problems being judgemental. Men shouldn't wear anything but stainless steel, leather and cloth. Period, end of story! Precious metals are for precious people. If you're really okay with being precious well good for you sweet heart, you're very stunning and brave. May you forever bathe in diamonds and floral scented waters.
