  1. Thanks for the reply Roger. I have a plan. Missus has laid claim to the casio but she hasn't worn it yet. Now it is only a few days since the hijack, however, if it's not worn by Christmas day then I'll invoke the ancient horological law .......'If it ain't being used it should be passed onto to someone who will use it'
  2. Now I've got to find another G g-shock. I only had that one
  3. All sorted. The missus asked what I was looking for. I explained. Let's see she said. "I wear oversize watches" she said. So end up saving £20, but ............being a G-shock lighter. How come it was sold to me as a good idea. And how come I went for it. Oh, well
  4. Guys Bought G Shock off the sales forum. It's great condition but can't get along with the shiny resin strap. Google replacements but they cost a bit. Can you suggest alternatives. Failing to get an acceptable strap; I'll have to sell it. It's a GA -200RG Cheers Stay safe George
  5. I've tried to get google maps loaded off line for a couple of times, but have failed. Most probably me not the tablet
  6. Getting back into hiking, but getting fed up with paper maps. Hence, I'm looking at going for memory-maps from ordinance survey. Bearing in mind that I like studying the map to find my way (sad!) and identify whats around me any ideas for alternative map systems and preferably cheaper as well? George
  7. Wrenny Ah the good old 2/3 salary pension, ours disappeared in 2009 Should add I'm 63
  8. It's a company pension, so luckely don't need to worry about the rates. Think should I move and draw down. It's all about what stomach i have for the risk. Having seen news about US growth struggling, the borrowing debt and of course good old brevity who knows where we will end up. Wrenny, thanks for the link, I'll have a look.
  9. Ricky Thanks for the link. If I'm reading it correctly leaving in a a draw down will attract a psuedo-pension income. So all other things being equal, it just the same as having the company pension coming in. George
  10. I'm one of those lucky individuals with a works pension. Not a huge one, but still something. Pension freedoms mean I can now transfer it to another provider and do a draw down pension rather than buy a dual life annuity with the company. However, if I end up in social care can they make my missus get the money out and pay towards the care until it's gets down to the threashold. I think they can't do this to a dual life annuity.
  11. Richard I'll have a look at both....the nord deal is shout 2.5 per month (or there sbouts) . I'll research the other
  12. Cheers Richard. Nordvpn seem to be doing a good discount at the moment
  13. rhaythorne...never heard of router manufacturer vpn so did a bit of reading about it. As the virgin set up is going to be installed next week may be a bit early to start mucking around with it until I know it's working okay. Watchmedic.... I take it geese are easy to install and will work with my android pad and Firestick?
  14. Guys Updated the laptop , got the Internet deal with virgin sorted, got the free antivirus from virgin signed up. Now all to consider is a VPN......err not clued up on those. So went reading about them......the best is depending on which site is doing the review. I know that are some clever compouter lads and lasses on the forum, so.. Which is the best? Which is the best value per device? What's the best source for getting one? And Any free ones worth having? Hope you can help George
  15. Designing bits to rectify the faults and keep them running kept me employed for 34 years.....so achieved one objective
  16. After a long time trying I eventually gave up. RR is going to ban both smoking and vaping on its sites (worldwide) from the end of THIS year....so maybe talking up vaping wouldn't have helped. I did enjoy smoking. The kicker is that I hadn't seen my brother for a while and he has just returned from Cuba....and he brought me a number of your genuine Cuban cigars. They range from the ones that look like small walking sticks through tour the smaller ones...all in the tin packs Just sitting in the bedroom draw for the last few months. Seems a shame ...maybe a unwanted cigar section on ebay
  17. a very detailed history and reminder of how it used to be. Burst mode on a disc camera; never knew that. And btw I was 26 in '82.
  18. A very comprehensive post William. The more I think about it the more I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to buy a replacement laptop/desktop . Or do all online stuff on my tablet and keep the laptop/desktop for doing the work stuff , but disconnected from the web.
  19. I think that because Microsoft have stopped supporting the OS then Google stops doing updates and hence f-secure can't support fully. I think that's what has happened .....or I could be paranoid and think THEY ARE ALL OUT TO GET ME!!!!!
