  1. Sorry, i thought this was the main watch forum. I dont see anything about classic watches in the heading listed on my screen. Can you tell me more specifically where it should go? Thanks!
  2. Hello - I am in search of a Mondaine watch that I stupidly did not buy years ago when I was in Switzerland, and I wonder if anyone has any information or leads. I am looking for what is now called the Stop2Go variety, but used to be just a regular mondaine watch with the same feature. The newer models have a different look on the bezel - more rounded - and so am hoping to find one that stops at the 12 for 2 seconds so that the minute hand 'jumps' to the next minute (now call Stop2Go), but has the old form factor. I only recently discovered that the kind that I am looking for was only in production until the early 2000s, and has recently made a comeback as the Stop2Go line. So - I am looking for a pre-2001 one, I guess. Is there anyone that knows more about Mondaine history and manufacturing that could help me with this? Thanks so much!
  3. Hello again PatJames Here we are many years later and still neither of us seems to have the necessary number of posts. Do you still have the Zurex/Aureole watch that is like the one my father gave me? I very much hope so. Thank you!
  4. thanks for the warm welcome alex. will try to nose and around and see if there are other areas of interest. i do have many old watches, but more because i find them beautiful than because i am much of a collector. see you around the fora (a plural that we love around my house, btw, but that doesnt get used much for some reason in this fora-filled, web-wide-world!)
  5. Great news, PatJames - I cant wait to see it!! Keep me posted on when you can contact me. Thanks!
  6. Ok - thanks for your patience, patjames, and if anyone can comment on my forum procedure questions above, would very much appreciate it!
  7. Ok - Thanks, Pat James. I actually dont have much else to do with watches except for looking for this one that was from my father. i hope i am able to get to 50 posts, but i cant imagine how. if it ends up being possible (will wait to see what mach replies) i will try to see if you can just email me, perhaps. thanks for your patience!
  8. Pat James - Your location isn't an issue for me, but I wonder if you could tell me the brand of the watch. Thanks so much.
  9. Thank you, Mach. In that case, perhaps there is another forum on this site that is more suited to an exchange between pat James and me. Alternatively, I am happy to post an email address where he could email me directly, but again don't want to violate forum rules or anything. As you might be able to tell from the above, I am hardly a watch connoisseur or anything, I am just looking for a watch that is sentimental to me. Any help that any of you forum experts could provide would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
  10. Thank you, Omegamaniac. I wasn't aware of that - just read the rules and see that I/we would need 50 posts to PM each other. In that case, is there another way to arrange for contact or anything more to allow the transfer/sale of this watch that Patjames has? Thanks for your help!
  11. Hi Patjames That is wonderful news! I would love to talk with you about this and perhaps buy it from you if you were interested in selling. If you could email/PM me with your contact information, we could take it from there. Thanks so very much again!
  12. Sorry - I am new to this site, and realize that I originally posted this topic in the wrong forum. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hello - I am on this site to try to locate an old watch, essentially one just like the one that my father had given me but that I lost when it fell off my wrist some years ago... I would appreciate any and all input on how I might find it. I do not know the model number nor year it was produced, but I do have a fairly good description, and the watch was made by Aureole. It is a rather thin watch for the period, with a gold face (not real gold), that has a flortentine, "crosshatch" type-design - almost scratched in, you might say. Instead of numbers, it has X's on outer ring of watch (which is made of the same "gold" material), outside the crystal itself. It has a separate second hand at the bottom of the watch. I attach a picture of a watch that meets all of the above descriptions, but is made by Zurex. If you have seen this watch -- by any maker, Zurex, Aureole, or any other -- I am interested in talking to you about it. If anyone on this forum could in any way help me locate this watch, or lead me to someone who might be able to, I would be very very grateful. I know that I can't get the original watch back, but a facsimile of it would equally have great sentimental value. Many thanks to the members of this forum.
  13. Here is a picture of the watch, but by the company Zurex. If you have seen any watches that look like this - by any company, but even better if by Aureole, please PM me. Thanks so much
