  1. The only things I could speculate on what would be agreed in mass on here is the detest of fakes and watches that have pretend dials and buttons
  2. I would probably treat myself to one keeper around 2 grand and use the rest to invest in buying more watches to sell on to make some money
  3. I took the plunge on one, very happy with the brown Nato version https://www.hillierjewellers.co.uk/mens-nato-alpinist-automatic-watch-spb211j1-p15118
  4. I still have The Seiko "Spork" model in my collection, a great looking watch that should be re-released IMO, with an updated movement and sapphire lens would be cool, Mad prices if you can find one today
  5. Incoming Glycine combat auction win for around £200 so hopefully I will be pleased with that one bud, Thank you for replies, think I will blend back into the background again now, sorry for my vague lazy request.
  6. Yep in a nut shell I Didn't see the Zelos auction because I was still in bed, It's just nice to see peoples recommendations / choices who have taken the plunge and are pleased with the quality of what they have bought, I like a bargain but as you say so many options but so many potential disappointments, It would be nice to see a watch with the criteria requested that has something other than an NH35/36 Seiko movement in,
  7. Hi, Thanks for replies, not heard of Zelos they look worth checking out, Any size not really a deal breaker, I have a Hamilton Kaki mechanical if that had a screw crown it would probably be almost perfect, I have a king turtle Seiko it's awesome , would love a Longines Conquest but a little out of my price range, I have dabbled with a few of our Eastern friends such as Sharky, Addiesdive, and Steeldive all pretty good, I think I might try San Martin I hear good things, Cheers again for suggestions, I love the look of field watches but want mechanical a decent brand with Sapphire and screw crown hopefully for up to around £400
  8. Hi, not posted for ages but have been lurking, I am after suggestions on affordable options, Only mechanical watches with a sapphire lens and a screw down crown need apply, not much to ask for surely? I love my Venturo field watch #2 from Gruppo Gamma which does have what I need but I want more ! Any ideas?
  9. Thanks for that, an interesting read,.... so it looks like I have a meca-quartz It will probably go back or moved on....
  10. There is no sweeping hand with this watch, I am sure they have just copied a description from another MWC watch that does have a kinetic type movement ....Not getting the mechanical either?, do they mean all quartz watches are partly mechanical because you have to turn the hands round to set the time?
  11. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZWLSGZ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hi all, I bought this on a whim but am not happy regarding description and what turned up, I thought I would be getting some sort of Kinetic ? Took the back off and just see a battery powered watch as far as I can tell? No rotor or anything mechanical, has this thing been wrongly described?, has anyone had any experience of these watches?, lots of sellers using the same blurb but I think it's wrong, I think it's going back to Amazon, I have sent a complaint
  12. What about this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Henry-London-Skeleton-Automatic-HL42-AS-0331/dp/B07FD9KB61/ref=sr_1_94?crid=36YX2TM4TZF3A&keywords=henry+london+watches&qid=1566048328&s=watch&sprefix=hen%2Cwatches%2C162&sr=1-94
  13. ....Some sparkly fashion watch, or one with a picture of a cat on, and save six hundred and fifty odd pounds
  14. Anyone else got one of these?, Mako 3 or RA-AA0010B19B I love mine, far to nice to be a beater, 44mm handwind auto https://www.amazon.co.uk/Orient-Analogue-Automatic-Rubber-RA-AA0010B19B/dp/B07J38QSB5/ref=sr_1_32?s=watch&ie=UTF8&qid=1545438473&sr=1-32&keywords=orient+automatic
  15. Timex Easy reader, black or white dial Indiglow,.... love that Timex Welton btw
  16. Pop off back watches, ....what a pants idea that was, ...I would say even the best and experienced take a gamble of causing the slightest of marks every time one is opened and closed, I try to avoid
  17. Welcome to the Isle of Wight !, nice pics Best of luck finding any decent watch shops here tho!.......Benzie's of Cowes sell the dear stuff, Rolex etc, we have a H.Samuels and a few jewellers selling at over the top prices, Hope you enjoy your visit
  18. Iv'e never ventured over this price threshold, quite happy with the huge choice out there in this bracket....and below, As others have said I too just buy what I like the look of,....any make could be a potential purchase.....well most makes,... ,Once I have my mitts on it the look and overall feel of it's build quality is key, I think you have to handle a few stinkers to appreciate the good ones, If it disappoints you have learned something and wont bother buying another,
  19. Hi friend, I'm in no way an aficionado on selling watches but in the many years using ebay selling, I have found if you really want to sell your watch the best way is to list as an auction without a reserve and starting at .99p for about seven days, regardless of how much the watch cost, May sound a bit scary, but with decent pictures and listing it at a busy time around 9 O'clock or so of an evening it will reach it's worth with the amount of watch lovers and anoraks out there it may even surpass your expectations.....much more fun than a "buy it now" as well.
  20. Went for the Orient Bambino with the green dial and gold case, been pondering but the discount swung it for me, interesting that the listing says it's from Ireland but the payment address was familiar …..Creation watches Singapore ? Do they get them from Singapore and send it to me from Ireland....? just worried about being stung with import duties cw_timeuk
  21. Bit late to the party but cheep as chips and bloomin heavy.......
  22. Oh yes forgot about the Clerkenwell 1946 model (above) very decent looking watch
  23. Thanks Rog,....I was trying it on a little to see if Amazon could send me one to go with watch!,....It will probably be needed when someone needs to set the alarm if I flip it
  24. Yes this was proper Amazon - Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L. Have to mention It turned up in its inner and outer box with the generic Seiko blue book but without any instruction manual for the 7T32 movement, under closer examination a slight scratch on the case back through a battery change methinks, So thought I would contact Amazon via their chat system, as a gesture of good will they gave me a £5 gift voucher!!, when I said it should have come with the watch as it was meant to be brand new I was told I could return it for a refund........not bloomin likely !!!
