  1. I cleaned up the contacts with a tiny drop of methylated spirit on a cuetip, put the new batteries in but it did not power up, so fingers crossed I replaced the back and !! HEY PRESSTO !! it is up and running, I hope this is of help to others and thank you once again for your input, I will attempt to go through what looks a little complicated on posting pictures, some of the jargon is unfamiliar to me and my brain hurts with all that life has been throwing at me over the last 3 or four years, the head is willing but the body is a little worn out lol.
  2. Thank you so much for your reply. I have placed a magnet on the bracelet & body without any reaction so I live in hope that it is indeed Gold even without hallmarks as I am given to understand that not all countries use them, it was made in Singapore. can you tell me if the watch should work with the batteries in place without the back on ?. or does it have to be on for the watch to power up ? as it seems a bit odd to have the batteries in contact with the back. Cheers Budgie2.
  3. Can anyone actually see this post ?, the reason I am asking is that there was something I saw on here after I posted that said my post was not visible to other members so I went into settings to address this and hopefully made the correct change. I do not understand why such a setting is needed, why would you join and post if you did not want other members to see it ?.
  4. Just saying hi from the UK as I am the new guy now and no expert or collector, I joined for some advice on a watch I was given but can;t find any reference to on the web, I won't go into the details here as I have already posted about it hopefully in the right place, hope you guys can shed some light on it thanks.
  5. Here are some pic's of the watch. http://prntscr.com/ldqk3w http://prntscr.com/ldqkwf http://prntscr.com/ldqlfr http://prntscr.com/ldqlzu http://prntscr.com/ldqmjk
  6. Hi guys. I am a newbie and this is my first post, so if I am in the wrong place then please excuse my ignorance. I am seeking some information on a Rotary LED watch that my partner has given me as I have been unable to find one like it on the web, it appears to be a gold watch with an integrated fine link gold strap, there are no hallmarks on the watch at all, it has a stainless steel back with no other markings on it except for a battery No sticker on the inside of the back, it has a sticker on the inside with a 5 digit No and the words Made in Singapore for Cronus. When I was first shown the watch a few years ago it was not in working order, so I took it to a watch repairer for a new battery, after a few minutes he returned saying he had put new batteries in it but it still would not work as there was some corrosion on the contacts, when I asked him if he could fix it he was reluctant to even attempt it, from this I gathered that it could be a valuable watch that he was frightened of being held responsible for if it went wrong. I consulted my son who is an electrician by trade and he cleaned off the corrosion and got it working, however it has a very small strap so wasn't wearable even for my partner. The watch was put aside for about ten years until now when she asked if I would like it, ofcourse I said yes but found it no longer worked so I removed the back with the intention of replacing the 2 side by side batteries, my problem is this, 1 battery is face up and the other is face down bridged by a metal strap which I presume connects them in series, the strap also has a prong sticking up which will connect to the back when replaced because there was nothing covering it when I opened it up, can anyone tell me if this is how it should be or should it be insulated from the back ?.
