  1. Hi I am reaching out for the help of someone who owns an Orient Mako III (Kano) RA-AA0011B19B. The crown has broken off and lost and contacting Orient in respect of sourcing a replacement or even information about the dimensions of the crown have been met with polite refusal. I was hoping that perhaps someone on the forum who owns an intact Kano could give me a rough idea of the diameter and length of the crown so I can source a generic replacement either from a shop that sells parts or Ebay. Any help or advice would be very welcome . Thanks in advance Paul
  2. Thanks for the advice Decker. I really appreciate it
  3. Hi everyone, Apologies if there is already a similar thread in existence somewhere but I carried out a search before posting a new thread and could not find anything matching my query. I have recently bought a second hand Orient Mako II diver with blue dial and the pepsi bezel which I have recently upgraded with a double domed sapphire crystal which has really lifted the look of the watch and I would like to upgrade the strap which is currently a manky looking grey, black and blue NATO to something with perhaps a complimentary Navy/red colour scheme. I have seen some nice Crafter Blue Navy and Red rubber straps which fits the 22mm lug size but I do not know if they would also be compatible with my Orient because they are made for the Tudor Black Bay and Pelagos and the Seiko new Samurai respectively and was hoping for some advice before making a purchase. Are there any other possible suggestions that you think would fit the bill in terms of complimenting the look of my Mako. Thank you in advance.
  4. I've had a couple of comments. One from a work colleague who told me that she thought men's watches were a lot nicer looking than women's watches. The second came this afternoon when my mother commented on the double domed sapphire crystal in my Orient Mako II with Pepsi bezel as being lovely and clear glass.
  5. A lovely looking watch - health to wear
  6. Mine too. Still needed to take a look though lol.
  7. Lovely collections. Thanks for posting.
  8. I definitely want to add this watch to my collection at some point this year. Health to wear.
  9. What a lovely looking watch... Health to wear
  10. I really like the look of the black dial and green bezel. I am sure your brother will really enjoy this lovely watch.
  11. He took the news very calmly indeed! He surely must have had some idea of the two watches worth though? If someone told me that two watches I had sat in a drawer with no clue of their value were worth the guts of 60k I'd be doing cartwheels!!!!
  12. Luxury - something beyond the ordinary and mundane perhaps?

Thanks for the welcome and kind wishes. It is much appreciated.
  14. Very interesting... Thanks for posting and the red dialled watch has piqued my interest for sure.

Hello everyone, I am Paul from Belfast and just joined a few hours ago and this is my first ( and hopefully not my last!!! ) post. Hitting 50 years old next month and living just outside of Belfast in Northern Ireland, I am a complete novice as far as watches go. So much so that I only bought my first ever mechanical watch after seeing a couple of Seiko 5's for sale on a UK wet shaving forum (another interest of mine) a few months back and thinking I would like a "proper watch" and not a £5.99 digital. Although I missed out on those it led me to see what was available on eBay which really opened my eyes and I have since bought a Seiko 5, a Seiko Kinetic SKA 719P1 and a Seiko 7T62OLD0 Chrono. All used but in very good condition, working and keeping time well. Unfortunately, the 5 was just too small looking on my wrist so it was sold on. I would have been happy with my lot interchanging between the chrono and the kinetic and not thinking anymore deeply about watches until my two teenage children went and bought me an Orient Mako II with blue dial and Pepsi bezel which they were able to pick up again off eBay for a reasonable sum because it had some bad scoring on the crystal but was otherwise in excellent condition. Little did I know that my daughter saying " I know the face is damaged dad but perhaps you could get the glass replaced?" would result in me doing an internet search that led me to a world of double domed sapphire crystals, watch modding and replacement straps (which is how I ended up finding this forum in fact). I have been trawling through your forum as a guest for a while especially the Orient subforum. I don't mind admitting, that there is just something about the Orient Divers that have struck a chord with me and yes, I have bought a Sapphire replacement crystal which I have left into a there is a certified watch repair and servicing shop located five minutes away from home that I never knew existed until now! I know Orient Makos are not high-end watches by any means ( and the high end will, more likely than not, remain something that is out of reach of my budget ) but for me they are a thing of beauty that can with a few simple changes or additions be made to look and feel more high end than their retail price would suggest. It is for that reason, that I have plans to add a Ray Raven II, a White dialled USA and an XL with orange bezel at some point. I hope that I will learn more about this new world I have discovered through reading the many posts on this forum and I may even raise enough courage to make a contribution or ask some advice every now and then. I would love to learn enough to try to do some DIY modding or repair ( I like taking things apart and putting them back together again ) but that is in the far distance right now. Anyway, thanks for listening and bye for now!
