  1. I've been considering this discussion, which I think raises a few interesting questions, one of which is, what exactly is a 'fashion' watch? I recently embarked upon a watch buying mission. I wanted a dress watch. I'd seen a Maurice Lacroix watch I really liked, so I set about doing some research on it, as I always do when purchasing. I quickly found that the watch in question was quartz. I own many quartz watches, mostly Citizen and Seiko, and they are great, with quartz specific complications such as solar power, and they come from brands that are renowned for quartz technology. 2. ^^ That's a totally refreshing and honest piece of self-analysis that for me says you are a positive individual Like Brexit? Apologies guys. Ignore me. I don't want to ignite a Brexit debate!
  3. KAS, just a heads up buddy. I just saw a Yema Superman on WUS sales corner. It was circa 5 weeks old and already looking for its third owner, ie original purchaser immediately pinged it to WUS, and now that buyer is jogging it on very quickly too. It may of course have nothing to do with the watch's quality or fit & finish, but thought you should know. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  4. For the man who prides himself in moving in a different direction to the majority. Plus there's a handy reminder under the 12 of a tasty teatime snack. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  5. I have no plans to buy a Rolex submariner, but if I did it would be the slimmer, more elegant (imho) 14060M. It's totally subjective of course. The latest version looks more modern, and is probably superior under the hood. You're not likely to lose money on it if you do pull the trigger, so if it makes you happy and doesn't break the bank, why not?! Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  6. Really nicely put together watch KAS. I can see why you like it. What, if anything, does the manufacturer say about their movement? Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  7. Same as yesterday. Perfectly accurate today Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  8. So many interesting watches. Box 4 Top, lower row, middle.. WTF?!! Super cool collection. Thanks for sharing.
  9. I hear that. I suspect that, being my first new mechanical, I didn't wind it properly to begin with, so it was just not in it's groove. Hopefully now it's had a proper wind it'll be similar to yours.
  10. That's good advice Both wrists?! No way. Really? Because I work from home I am certainly not beyond a few watch changes over the course of a day, but two at a time seems, er..
  11. Since giving it an extra good wind on Saturday night I'm very happy with performance. Woke up on Sunday morning to +5, which then slowed to +2 over the next few hours once on my wrist, and held over the course of Sunday. Laid it down flat, dial up on Sunday night and awoke this morning to +5. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  12. Haha. I know what you mean! Took me a while, but once you get used to it, it's super useful as it allows for some pretty detailed interval training. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  13. Haha. Thanks for that. I train karate three times a week, go to the gym, and run. However, I don't do any of those things with a dress watch on as when training I find a G-Shock works better - I have one that incorporates training sets via a Bluetooth-enabled app. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  14. Seems to me the OP wants something a little 'blingy'. I like the Rado D Star and have considered them. They come in quite a few colour variations, and have a certain individuality about them, what with the slightly oval bezel. Nothing wrong with the Gucci. But a huge amount of money for such a watch imho. As rhe chaps here have already pointed out, you'll lose a ton of money on it if you want to sell it on. If you want the Gucci name then it's worth the dosh I guess Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. Good point Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks to all of the chaps who gave their insight on my 'crown slip' thread. Since receiving my Raymond Weil Maestro about 10 days ago it's been running slow. About 10 seconds a day on average, with a few days better (-5) and a couple of days worse (-17 to 20). I was googling 'mechanical watch runs slow' last night and I came across a piece on Creation Watches. Basically it was making a couple of key points: 1. Most watches that run slow just aren't wound properly. Wind it 40-50 turns so its properly wound and you should be good to go. 2. A new mechanical needs a month or so to 'break
  17. New Raymond Weil - running okay atm Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  18. This is a very good point. The watch is new in terms of invoice, warranty, first ownership etc., but is certainly not of the current RW line up. I suspect a coupler of years old as a model. Appreciate the input
  19. The collective knowledge here is second to none Your various inputs gives me lots of help as to how to proceed. Slower winding is a good idea. Less turns is also a good idea. I hope it's a clutch mechanism designed to protect the watch from newbie mechanical owners like myself. However, the JoT suggestion is also possible so I'll bare that it mind also. And if all else fails the Raymond Weil official service team are based just down the road from me and are very friendly, so I can always ping it in to them if the problem persists or gets worse. Hong Kong Phooey - Nigel you are a
  20. Thanks guys. Hopefully it is the clutch thing. I wore it all day for the first time yesterday, and admittedly did try winding it a few turns before bedtime, which probably wasn't required. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  21. Disclaimer: I am new to the world of owning mechanicals/ autos, so if come across as a horological simpleton here, it's because I am. My new Raymond Weil is increasingly 'slipping' when I wind it via the crown. It's like when you're pedalling a bike and the chain slips. I'm getting a click instead of a firm wind that has resistance on what appears to be a random basis. Not every time by any means, but increasingly. Have I buggered something up by overwinding it, or is there a non-buggered explanation? The collective wisdom and experience of the forum will be gratefully received. Sent
  22. My new Raymond Weil arrived last week, but the alligator strap I bought for it only arrived today, so first wear! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  23. Haha. Absolutely. I don't even count my three G-Shocks as part of my collection. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
