  1. Cheers bro I've purchased in the US, through a buddy. Cost me £400 new. Around £1,000 here, or with one EU company Euro749.
  2. Hi Jay. Yes you're correct. Just wondering more about the brand. My understanding is that they are one of the decreasing number of truly independent (ie not swallowed up by Richemont or Swatch) brands. I believe that their movements are modified Sellita? Anyway, what's most important is that which you've already addressed.. are they any good based upon real world experience? So anyway, in the last few minutes I've purchased a Raymond Weil dress watch Raymond Weil Maestro 2847-ST-30001 I'm still trying to upload a photo
  3. Hello gentlemen First off, my apologies for being AWOL. I've been super busy with work tbh, but also I'm frustrated with the lack of notifications I'm getting from this otherwise superb forum. I am time poor anyway, so rely on notifications in order to keep up with any thread conversations. Without notifications I just don't have the spare consciousness to check back regularly! Anyway, I'm about to pull the trigger (once I figure out which one to buy) on my first ever 'dress watch', and.. AND!!! ...for a guy previously sworn off mechanicals due to frustration (is there a theme here?
  4. Interesting perspective@jaydeep. I'll certainly consider your thoughts going forward. My Citizens live in my (clear perspex topped) watch box in my bedroom. Not by a window but in an averagely lit North-facing room. They all seem happy enough, and once in a while on a sunny day (if I remember) i stick them in a sunray for an hour. For me it's actually my Seiko kinetics that require the most attention. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  5. A fun article - thanks for posting it. I was slightly disappointed to see that the BFK didn't warrant a mention, being possibly one of the toughest Seikos ever made! Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  6. '.. extremely temperamental if not babied and pandered to..' @jaydeep I'm surprised to read anyone state such an opinion of a Citizen ecodrive as I have four which are all seemingly bulletproof. My two sons also have three between them, with one (both son and watch) currently in Australia having trekked around South East Asia where the watch was subjected to diving, humidity, jungle, elephant baths etc. (Citizen BM6400) The other son is also very hard on his watches (gym, drunken falling over etc.) and although aesthetically the pvd nighthawk has a few minor war wounds, it's otherwise workin
  7. My last watch purchase (circa two weeks ago) was when browsing a thread where a guy was looking for a stealthy black watch. Someone suggested the Citizen BN0217-02e (pvd tough). 'That's lovely' I thought. 20 odd minutes later I'd bought it, and the next day it turned up. Yay!
  8. As someone who's first question when buying a quartz is 'does the seconds hand align with the dial markers', I really wish there was. I've never considered your question - maybe because I've never owned a chronograph. I actually think it's fairly disgraceful that so many manufacturers don't QC alignment on often fairly pricey quartz watches. I recently wanted to buy a Certina Quartz Chronometer. However, every example I saw on you tube reviews were badly misaligned, and on contacting a retailer both of his units were misaligned also. I gave up. To me it's wholly unacceptable that a
  9. Beautiful watch. Another example of why this quartz guy is still tempted by the mechanical side.
  10. As as new member my apologies in advance to the many mechanical enthusiasts here. I'm about to make myself unpopular I too have tried very hard to embrace the mechanical world, and I do maintain an intention to try again with another mechanical (and hopefully with the assistance of the wealth of experience from my new friends here). But.. at this moment in time I'm just not seeing why I would put myself through another (different to the OP yet ultimately, similarly frustrating) experience of buying a mechanical I really like aesthetically, and then dropping a considerable amount of e
  11. Starting with the BFK. Am off to IKEA to pick up some furniture so figured I'd wear something that, if an impact occurs, will shrug it off. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  12. Now the sun has gone down, time to switch to solar! Thought I'd give it a few seconds under the desk lamp prior to photo. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  13. Plenty of sun here (after a pretty rainy day), but no need for such with my Seiko Sportura Kinetic GMT SUN025P1!! Btw, since joining I've been having Tapatalk login problems which have apparently been causing the forum to temporarily lock me out. Hopefully after reinstalling Tapatalk on both phone and tablet I'm okay now, and looking contributing.. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Still seems glichy though. Always an extra empty pic holder? Oh well. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  14. Looks lovely. Do you own one? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. Due to the many references to the Seiko GS stable, I've had a first look. I've always liked the Rolex Explorer ii in terms of style. This Seiko is therefore grabbing my attention! I have a reason to keep a regular eye on another timezone, so the one GMT I already own I find to be very useful. What do you think guys? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

  17. Lol, I am so easily swayed!! Just read the link kindly supplied by @Chromejob to a review of the Chronomaster. Okay, so the 'Washi' paper now sounds cool One of the aesthetics that really grabs me personally about this watch (and indeed many others) is the crown guards. I just love crown guards that seem to curve up from the case. I'm also pretty happy with guards that sit at a more defined angle from the case btw! I guess for me crown guards of any specification make a watch better than one without. Maybe it's the practical part of my psyche that approves of the protection that pre
  18. Haha, thank you! And thanks for your replies re the Citizen Chronomaster. I think one would certainly need to handle this watch in person before committing to a purchase. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  19. Hi guys Thanks for all the input. First off, just to say I'm having problems with notifications from what is now my favourite forum! Ie, I'm not getting any. At all! It's very frustrating because I want to keep up with the thoughts of you guys in a timely manner. Apologies. I was away on a business trip all day yesterday, so didn't get a chance for a random visit. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk Lots of thought provoking posts. KAS: you'll have to guide me on this mechanical thing buddy! Part of me would love to own at least one, but it would have to be pretty accurate and rel
  20. It would seem my brain and eyesight were struggling last night when posting this topic. I have now seen that there is a specific forum for straps and accessories. The saddest thing is that I actually made a point of looking for the same but didn't see it. Oh dear. I would therefore be grateful if a kind moderator could move this one to it's correct location. Thanks Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
  21. I'm currently on the hunt for a good 22mm cordura (or similar) watch strap. So far I must say Im struggling to find a clear winner. I did see a brand called 'Blushark' but it seems they are US based. I could ship one here of course, but figured I'd ask my new friends first. Btw, I hope I'm posting this question in the right place. I didn't see a strap section - apologies if Ive missed a more appropriate place to post this. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks! That's very good to hear. I look forward to speaking with you further around this wonderful forum. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  23. Good evening sir! Thank you so much sir. I am very sure I've arrived at a great place to discuss my watch obsession, and, judging by a post reply to a thread I made in 'Japanese Watches' (by @kevkojak), a place where I'll learn a lot too.

  25. Thanks Scott. I just had a quick look on Google (will have a better look later). I really like the 70s/80s style bracelets Cheers Lee
