  1. 10 points to this man For a couple of quid it's great for avoiding any risk of scratch while removing case backs
  2. Aye, you're not wrong. But a very useful ball none the less
  3. Does this count? I had low expectations, but actually super happy with it. Who knows what it is?
  4. We've looked into this in the past and the rules seem to vary country to country. The rules for 'Swiss made' deem that at least 50% of the value must come from Switzerland. 'British made' is a little less straight forward with the UK guidance being: For the purposes of this Act goods shall be deemed to have been manufactured or produced in the country in which they last underwent a treatment or process resulting in a substantial change. What you deem as substantial change however may be a little bit of a grey area.
  5. @Karrusel Thank you for the feedback, as I have always said and with our Automatic collection firmly in the pipeline - this is just the beginning for us. But I really do want to keep this thread on topic
  6. Thanks for taking the time to check out the site. Yes our debut collection is indeed quartz, and we are halfway through our second Kickstarter campaign introducing our first automatic watch! Again, very conscious to not let this turn into a marketing post or even a post about us so feel free to check that out if you so wish. Thank you to everyone else for the responses! I can only say I am slightly jealous of your collections, and very impressed by the variety. There are tons of discussions on the matter but what are your thoughts on movement origins? There's been mention in this thread of supporting British, which is great, and I totally agree, but the British selection of movements is limited to say the least. Swiss vs Japanese vs? In-house movement or favourite brands?
  7. This is in no way intended to be a marketing post but in the interest of full transparency - Dave here, co-founder of Pompeak watches. I'll let you do the research if you want but as I say, no way intended to be a marketing post, just some innocent community research as we're currently brain storming the next collection and I've been stuck inside for too long Admin - please let me know if there are any issues That is something I think we can all agree on there! Quite possibly my favourite response And that sir, is a solid collection. Never a truer phrase. And thank you for the detailed response. At what point would you personally class the watch as British? Design, movement (?), assembly? You will definitely struggle to find all of those in an affordable watch. One thing for sure is that its rare for watch folk to have just one watch, although I do know people who trade in watches often rather than building a large collection. Where do we draw the line at "too many watches"?
  8. Of course size would depend on the individual wrist. Referring to your references you tend to go for dive and pilot watches? Solid choice, is there anything in particular about the divers watches or purely a fan of the aesthetic?
  9. Hi guys and girls, A bit of an opinion poll for an isolated Sunday afternoon: Do you have any "must haves" when buying a new watch? Complications? Colours? Calibres? Mechanical or Quartz? Swiss or Japanese? Big boy 50mm or the more classic 40mm? I realise this is a very open question, but let's be honest, we all have a little extra time at the moment. Dive, dress or pilots, what makes a killer watch for you?
