  1. Yeah I am going to get the watch off of him to have a look and get the story 100% correct, would like to see it for my own eyes.
  2. He paid full price for the watch in the 70s I think it was the 70s, he then took the watch to a guy in a market place when he was on sure leave in some far off land (imagine Indiana Jones) and the guy inscribed the back using a chisel and hammer from what I can remember, he also says the watch never runs correctly, I wonder if the guy doing the inscription swapped out the workings or broke the thing with all the tapping on the back, either way it needs sorting I reckon. Shore leave not sure leave, lol
  3. But I always thought that stuff on the back would lower the resale price.
  4. Hi A mate of mine has an Omega Seamaster Cosmic but he had the back engraved which has devalued the watch, anyway a back can be sourced or fixed etc. Maybe tig welding the back and metal polishing it? Cheers
  5. That's a nice watch but the lack of eco made it a bit off putting. I bought the AW1150 by Citizen, love it :)
  6. I would always look at how many sales have been made and what feedback they have https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/willowswatches This guy looks really legit.
  7. Thanks for the info but where should I look to buy one? I also saw this one, but the rotating rings always out me off, if they go out if line my OCD kicks in lol. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F392409267457
  8. Hi Thanks for the links etc but they are a tad busy, but today I went to my local jewellers and found a watch, even though it didn't fill all of my criteria I really like the watch and the thing I learnt is go for something that you personally like the look of and fit and this watch made me smile like an idiot. Although I did try a Seiko which made me giggle like a girl, lol it was a Prospex in Green for 740 eye watering pounds. https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/product/AW1150-07A.html this one I like a lot.
  9. Hi people Wrench you say around £150, er where would you suggest I buy from? I have no idea where to buy. And any more ideas, come on people .................. Pretty please with a cherry on top,
  10. Hi People OK I thought I would be asking too much for the price, do watches become cheaper if no day or date on the face or do companies even make this sort of thing or would it be a bit too special as the day and date thing annoys me a bit, so what would you say between Citizen, Seiko, and Orient what would you consider to be a better make. Oh and in a cream or light coloured face. Cheers
  11. I have been scouring the internet and have seen some nice watches but I am still stuck. I would like a watch with the following criteria if possible. 100mtr water resistant or 200mtr if possible A clean dial not too busy just quite plain Any strap material as that can be changed Some sort of eco-drive Sapphire Glass Nice cut outs for a watch tool to fit snugly like the back of some Seikos I have seen (SNZG15K1) A watch that is quite slim as chunky watches are a turn off for me Reliable New as I am rubbish at finding a quality 2nd hand watch as I have no idea what makes are good or bad As above a fairly good make And last but no least for no more than £150.00 Am I asking for too much? Thank you so much for any replies.
  12. Thanks guys I will post my query there xxx
  13. Hello People Just thought I would say hi as I have been lurking for a few days now after my cheapo Lorus watch died, now I am looking to buy something a bit better and have lost a few eBay bids and thought I am doing something wrong or don't have much advice onboard so here I am, please be gentle with me as this is all very new to me. Now all I need to do is find the board to ask about a watch I can afford :) Cheers
