  1. Baume et Mercier released this new Classima that I had the opportunity to try today, You can see on the video the black version followed by the white one. This new watch is a cheap version of the main Classima, priced at 1700$ instead of 2900$. They cut the costs on several details, basic veal strap Instead of alligator with folding clasp, steel back instead of saphir glass anf few other minor tweaks. The case is 42mm but surprisingly works well in my 17cm wrist, I usualky tend to not war watches above 40mm I was about to buy this Longines Presence but forced to admit this new challenger made me doubt. What your thoughts about it ? Happy Easter break, new Classima that I had the opportunity to try today, You can see on the video the black version followed by the white one. 2. Polished i think, on white the readability is not amazing indeed (video from my try on session) but I assume it's the price to pay for this kind of minimalist dial. Can't wait to try the black one this week.
  3. Thanks for the "welcome" and your detailed answer, really appreciated ! While the Conquest is very nice I'm looking for something more minimalist, I obviously had a look at some German models (Junghans Max Bill, Nomos,..) but they feel too "hipsterish" for my taste. But totally agree with you, a less glossy Hirsch strap would be a perfect fit with the Presence. And yes the black seems to be the real deal, I'll make my mind this week. I mostly wear darker tones ans I don't really want my watch to pop-up or look too blingy.. so yes the black makes sense. Thanks for your feedback !
  4. Hi, After a month looking for my first mechanical watch and endless visits to stores trying many models I’m finally (almost) pretty sure I’ll go with this Longines Présence, I love the overall minimalist and slightly retro look, the very long power reserve (72h) is an interesting feature as well. One question bugs me: white or black dial ? I know we all have different tastes but which one for you is more or less versatile, dressier, casual , etc .. ? Would love to hear your thoughts. Cheers
