  1. It's amazing to hold something from 130 year ago in my hands. Although the mechanism no longer works, its certainly something special. A true piece of family history. Thanks for the help! I appreciate your time and insight!
  2. Aha, I didn't even realise you could see the inner workings. This has made the situation far more clear haha. As you can see, it's "The Ludgate Watch"
  3. Thats the best my phone camera can do unfortunately. Seems to be an 'R', a lion & what looks like a skull and crossbones in a gas mask lol. The mark at the bottom says "TWE" Although, now that I look at it under a microscope, it looks more like TWR or TWB. Sorry haha *magnifying glass, not microscope
  4. Thank you for the reply. I did work out that it had to be turned anti-clockwise, but unfortunately I think the clock's mechanism is no longer working as it has remained at the same time since winding. There is a piece of paper with my great-grandfather's name handwritten on in the inside of the case, which is stuck in by some sort of adhesive. I did manage to gently pry that back to see a hallmark that says "TWT". No worries about valuation; I just need a more accurate idea of the model/date to be able to search around for value. Thanks again --Tom Correction, the hallmark says "TWE"
  5. Hello everyone My grandfather died a few weeks ago and in a box in his house we found a J.W. Benson silver pocket watch. Having had a look online, and discovered that there are many different Benson watches that look similar, Unfortunately, while it has a winding thing attached, it doesn't seem to work any more. Not surprising given its age I suspect. I was wondering if you could help me identify the model and perhaps give a rough valuation of the watch. Here are some pictures: Additionally, on the inside of the watch, near the hinge, there seems to have been 'AP 134' etched in to the metal, in extremely small font. Not sure what this means. Thanks in advance for the help. --Tom
