USEDMODEL replied to USEDMODEL's topic in Watch Discussion Forum
Thanks Mac my Super :superman: It has taken 5 years and many hours on Ebay. Thanks for all the kind comments in this post and the encouragement given over the years. More importantly it has taken time from friends such as you and many others on various forums to point me in the direction of finds that I would have otherwise missed. So to all those that have helped, a big THANK YOU. PS .... Bank manager says SELL, SELL, SELL  -

Just update my website. Now have 100 watches on display and Mac (God knows who he is , but believed to be an imigrant Scotsman) was kind enough to supply the 100th watch, which is apt as I have threatened his wellbeing on several ocassions and even put a contract out on his head. It has taken two years to prise it away from his collection and he finally gave up the fight. Thanks Mac for looking after the watch for me for the past two years and a big thanks for kindly selling it to me. Le Cheminant 1822, chrome plated manual wind. Fitted with a Unitas calibre 6380 17 jewelled movement. (+ v

Don't know if this is any good to you but the movement looks like either an AS 1637N or an AS1604N from the 1960s. AS 1637N Watch movement AS 1604N Watch movement The reason it will not be an exact match is because Doxa used to buy in their base units from AS and other movement companies and rework them, so really it is like a modern base caliber. I have added a link so that you can make your own comparison. When I had more time I had another look at the movement and it pre-dates both the movements I mentioned above. Reason : The movements I have listed were both fitted with incabloc (s -

This is an alloy of beryllium, copper and iron. With such properties as hardness, low thermal expansion, resistance to deformation and damage, immunity against magnetic fields and stability this alloy has become perfect for making balance wheels for watches' mechanisms. It is also resistant to corrosion and oxidation; it is rather inert chemically. It is extensively used by many watch brands in their mechanisms. To read up on the different types of balance wheels read this article. Different types of balance wheels Hope this helps

I wore one for years. Pass the strap through in the normal way and then pass it back through over the top. Some people pass it back through between the two, whichever suits you. Dont recomment cutting it. Even if you seal it they tend to fray. How to wear a nato strap

Tend to agree. At the moment the dial has some spotting but it is nowhere near as bad as some I have seen and provided the movement has not started to rust I would leave it. It has character and is very wearable (is there such a word as wearable?)
