  1. I acquired this watch in a mixed bag and it's one of the more interesting ones, however it doesn't work. I can't find any information on the movement (8630A) so it seems a replacement isn't going to be easy to find, so I thought how about having a go at repairing it? It's actually in good nick so worth a try, and nothing to lose. A faint pulse registers on one of those tester boxes and the coil looks ok (wrapped in plastic helps I guess) but what now? I have an analogue multimeter, steady hands and a feeling I might be a bit mad to even attempt this, especially as I've never done it before... Cheers!
  2. Hello All. I'm a fellow watch enthusiast from the North-East of England. I hope everyone is keeping well. I'm new to the forum but not exactly lol I joined a couple of years back, forgot the password/display name within the first few weeks, and wasn't getting a reply from admin so just left it! I'm back now mainly because I recently bought myself a cheap watch repair kit, dusted off the old watch storage box and started to give my watches the attention they required. Last time I did a full intro of my watches - this time I'll keep it short. Top Row - Left to right Accurist GMT Grand Complication LE, Citizen Eco Drive Minute Repeater LE, Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay (probs my fav), Seiko Prospex Solar Chronograph Bottom Row - Left to Right Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Swiss Army Titanium Alliance, Citizen Eco Chronograph World Time
  3. Hi I'm hoping someone can help. My son has a Citizen eco drive watch GN4WS1-26. It originally came with a leather strap however I am trying to fit it with a metal strap ref Citizen 59-S05422. Description of the strap is as follows:This Citizen watch strap is made of metal and is attached to the watch by means of pushpins. The band has a width of 24.0 mm and is closed by means of a Folding Clasp with Push buttons. The strap has no straight mount which means that this strap is only suitable for the watches listed below. Original strap for: Citizen AT4000-53B Watch Citizen AT4000-53E Watch Citizen AT4000-53G Watch Citizen AT4000-53L Watch Citizen AT4008-51E Watch Citizen AT4008-51F Watch Citizen AT4009-59L Watch The watch head pin location and the end pieces of the bracelet will not align. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? Thanks
  4. Does anyone know anything about a citizen n-e310 s081276-ka I have one and cant find anything about it.
  5. Hi can anyone help me to identify one of my older Citizens please? Don't know what happened but one of my favourite Citizen watches given to me some time ago by my parents has lost its crown - looking to see if it can be repaired or not and identity the model and movement info. in case replacing the entire movement is required - also would appreciate any feedback on likely costs Thanks Jim
  6. This watch was in perfect condition, with all the functions working, until I left it with a "watch-repairer" to have the battery replaced.... Since then, the Alarm / "Buzzer" has not worked, so I asked a professional watch-repairer to have a look at the watch. I was told that the "Buzzer Control Spring" was missing - probably because the previous repairer had not replaced it (I understand that this is a fairly common problem). The numbers on the back of the case are as follows:- T011 - 312805 Y 1071572 GN-4-S JAPAN > 12 I have contacted Citizen, but they are unable to help. I therefore wondered whether there was anyone out there who could tell me where to obtain the missing part, or to have the watch repaired.
  7. Hi, Please could someone advise whether it is practical to source and have a custom sapphire crystal installed for a low budget price. I'm currently waiting for a Bulova Precisionist Men's 98B180 Champlain Quartz Two-Tone Bracelet 48mm Watch from the USA but in all the last minute exitement between models to choose missed the detail that it had a mineral lens. I am prone to last minute diy and regular workouts !! Any guidance towards a prudent way forwards would be great.
  8. Hi Wondering if anyone can help me, I have a citizen eco drive, when the watch gets a radio signal during the night the time becomes 27min slow, even when I reset the watch again every time it gets a signal it becomes 27min slow again. If I leave it like this it remains 27min slow so it is not losing anymore time. It is fully charged. I tried resetting the watch but this didn't work. I have no idea why it is doing this, it as though it has a 27min offset set somewhere. Cheers
  9. Hello Watch Forum users, My name is Jakob Martin, and I have founded the relatively new watch brand Clairette Watches. We started by releasing two models at the beginning of the year and have now introduced two automatic models we intend to release on January 25th. Now we would like to get the feedback from the users of The Watch Forum! We are at the beginning of our journey as watchmakers but feel that we have been successful with our new automatic watches. In the future, we have already started sketching on watches in a slightly higher "premium" segment where we use movements such as 2824-2 (Top Grade), Valjoux ETA 7750, Sellita SW300 or ETA 2894. Then we will also have a release party in Stockholm, which you are more than welcome to. Sign up for the newsletter or follow us on Facebook to receive an invite. Brief information about our automatic watches: Our latest collection might be brand new, but it captures the spirit of vintage watches from the 1950's. With attention to every detail we are moving closer towards traditional watchmaking by using automatic movements, stainless steel cases, domed hesalite crystals, organic leather straps and many other features. You could say we are vintage watch fanatics who want to share our excitement with you. My own interest started when I inherited my grandfather Heuer Carrera from the 60's and since then it has grown. With our new collection, we offer vintage-inspired watches with automatic watches at great prices. We use Miyota's renowned 9000-series automatic movements, hesalite glass, dauphine hands, painted sandblasted brass dial and vegetable leather from Tärnsjö Garveri. Please read more here: http://kickstarter.clairettewatches.com Thank you for taking the time to read my post! /JRM
  10. Hello all. Newbie here. While I have a fair amount of experience with electronics, I don't with watches. A while back I inherited a Citizen C300 Navihawk that had been unused for years. I decided to try replacing the battery myself; bought a battery and opening tool, no problems. At some point I dropped the watch (about a metre onto hard wood) and the digital section went wonky, and one of the hands came off. I managed to do an all-reset, and put the hand on again. Good job I thought. Until months later I tried to use the alarm, and found it had stopped working. Thanks to forums, I suspected I during one of my back-openings I had let the sounder contact to fall out. I never found it :-( So now I am trying to source the part (903-156). I thought it would be easy, but it seems not. Various watch repair shops I have been to won't try and get the part for me, they want to send the watch away for a "service". Got a quote from Esslinger in the US, but the postage seems a little high for such a small part. Anyone know of a place in the UK I could try? TIA - Nick
  11. I was in an Omega showroom with a friend a few days past where I viewed a Speedmaster that would cost, after discounts and everything, just under 5000 USD. 'You mad? I'd get a few different watches for a few hundred dollars each and wear them, for 5000 USD', my friend remarked. He isn't a watchhead and can thus be forgiven, but he did get me thinking. Let's say you were given (only on Top Gear do you get 'given' money, but pray read on) $4900 (I surreptitiously keep the extra $100) to spend on 7 watches, one for each day of the week. Which ones would you choose? And why? These all have to be brand new, mind.
  12. Hello. I have a Citizen Blue Angel edition Ti watch. Everything functions on the watch except the hour hand. Any clue as to what might be happening?
