New Citizen and a heads up! (PICS HEAVY)

Recommended Posts

I ventured into TK Max this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see this:

I've seen photos of these here on The Watch Forum and have always thought they looked good. Inside the box:

The Citizen Eco-Drive Royal Marines Commando. This is my first Citizen, my first Eco-Drive and my first Titanium watch. I assume mine is ex-display as the green felt under and around the watch is a slight different colour as if the rest might be sun faded.

The watch is perfect though, no chips, nicks or signs of use and looks good on the wrist:

The titanium riveted buckle holes make me think the Kevlar strap is likely to last a long time:

And I like the attention to detail on the titanium floating keeper:

It's got a modest 39mm case (43mm including the crown), 46.5mm lug to lug, 12mm tall, sapphire crystal, Japanese quartz movement (I assume it's a Miyota), and 300m water resistance.

So when I'd seen these in the shops the price varied around £300 - the cheapest I'd seen was in the John Lewis sale down to £150 but by the time I'd noticed they'd sold out. I also believe this model is no longer in production (having been replaced by an identical watch without the "Royal Marines Commando" badging). What made me jump on this one was the price:

An absolute bargain! The only down side is that there's no paperwork or instructions but I can live with that (shame though as I think these may have come with a six year guarantee from Citizen). I don't know if there are any more of these in other TK Max stores or if I just got lucky, but if you're interested it's worth a look in your local store... just in case.

One last pic of the dial:

So I'm pretty chuffed with this morning's purchase! I was heading back home after breakfast and didn't expect that I'd buying a watch today... All good though!

:):ooops::biggrin:

£87 is an absolute steal! Well done and good hunting, the only watches I see in TKMaxx are total cheap, blingy and rattly garbage.

Thanks for the comments folks, I guess I struck it lucky with this one. The rest of the watch case in TK Max was filled with oversized Diesel, Police and Hugo Boss watches, and a few "American Exchange" watches, which I assume are a very cheap homage (!!) of Armani Exchange.

Anyways, I swapped the strap on the Citizen and I'm quite liking it's new look.
