Wonderful Wednesday.

Just received this seiko 5y30. Which i think from the numbers dates to 1989. Ive gently wiped it over with a capecod and fitted a new croc grain in dark brown. Looks like it has a bit of history judging by the inscribed case back. Guess ray will be 50 this year? Maybe lisa bought him a new watch to commemorate another significant birthday. Im very much drawn to these 80s seiko ultra slims. This ones 31mm diameter and 5mm depth. I was drawn to the hour hand and the slim simple lugs. Seems to be running spot on. e74987aafb6be63fbbb6ca149156adf7.jpg825c59f6ee8a2948d547a0df87d73ad4.jpgddee5379da7c6c92d81dff6d1c69f68c.jpg

A bit better picture definitely been well used and enjoyed during the past 30 years...still doing what it should. Telling the time. fd792f9654c537ea1ec934c4dead90af.jpg3eeeb99f6d82f7b41c2f5ed83608de7b.jpg

I had a similar one at around that time - sold it years ago - but it wasn't inscribed or anything.  There something rather sad about a 21st birthday present having been disposed of for one reason or another.  It would have been a nice gift 30 years ago and I wouldn't have let it go, even if Lisa became an 'ex'...

Seiko time in my watch rotation.

Unfortunately a dull day, the dial of this watch looks fantastic in the sun as you get the different shades of green, would have made a cracking pic.

Sometimes a watch just doesn't look right on the supplied bracelet or strap. I was finding it difficult to find the right pairing for the Bulova Snorkel but have finally found it with this Strapcode Engineer bracelet. Really enjoying this combo!

I never thought about it to be honest but it does seem odd doesn't it. It was an ebay find just a £12.99 cheapy from a seller in pontefract.
