Button on my MS040

Recommended Posts

I have an Accurist ms040 with a MIYOTA 6R29 movement. What's puzzling me is "what does the button do?"
The button is spring loaded so is obviously intended to make only a momentary contact.
Inside the case this mysterious button moves an, apparently electrical contact on the movement itself.
I have found diagrams of the 6R29 on MIYOTA'S website clearly showing this but no explanation as to its purpose.
I have attached photos to clarify what I'm going on about and hope someone can help me.

Oooops! I'm just leaning my way around here. I'll try photo again in a minute.
