Stem won't relatch

Recommended Posts

Really not doing well with even the simplest DIY watch maintenance.

The plan was to remove the movement and clean out all the crud around the casing. Pressed on what looks like the release button, where the white arrow is pointing in the photo, and removed the stem. Problem is, the stem will go back, and the second hand starts moving, but it won't latch. Just comes straight back out and won't turn the hands or the date wheel. The release button won't press now either.

I can see others with similar issues on various forums, but nothing that looks like a solution. Is there one?

Possibly the button is sticking, not sure of best way to lubricate it to see, but use very little. Maybe watch oil. Obviously do not get on the circuit board.

Not going to an easy fix.may have to remove the dial or that green plastic module cover.
