Seiko 6117 8000 advice

Recommended Posts

I have been looking out for a GMT watch for a couple of years now. I keep changing my mind which one. Now I do own a few seikos in my small collection and always rate them. This made me think about the 6117 8000 as a potential buy.

My question is buying one of these or any vintage watch is a bit of a minefield. How do you spot a franken? I've looked at the various reviews and a few examples on the bay but apart from 'buy the seller' and an over polished case/restored dial what else is there to look for?

Would a watch needing work be a massive problem in terms of spares? Regards, degsey.
