Services Transport watch movement

Recommended Posts

In a distinctly lowball way compared to one of esteemed mods, I’m a bit of a fan of Services watches, the ones from Frank Liquorish’s Leicester factory, that is, and recently acquired this Transport model.  Yours for 12/6d (about 63 new pence) in 1937, complete with two straps! This one is 40mm with 24mm lugs and dial over-stamped as issued to the A.R.P.

Whilst the “floating” minute hand is an easy fix, I now post this cry for help. The movement is a mid-30s 13’’’ Thiel Divina (Flat) and, Lord knows when, some felon has made off with the complete balance assembly. Just great, and whilst not many things will stump my sainted, if grumpy, watchmaker, missing parts from something like this are a bit more problematic. I’ve since managed to source a balance wheel with spring and staff but I’m still missing the balance cock and regulator despite extensive attempts to find either these parts, or an otherwise knackered movement which still has them, and hopefully without having to sell a kidney.

I’m attaching images of my incomplete movement and, from Watch-Wiki, what it should look like. So if any of you good folks know of a source for the missing bits, I’d be overjoyed to hear about it.

Regards to all.
