I recently purchased my first mechanical dress watch. Despite a few problems (as documented in the 'Crown wind slip' thread), I'm smitten. Only really concentrated on the tool/ diver type previously. All of a sudden I've discovered my inner refined gentleman :)

I was browsing sales corner on WUS recently and the identifical watch but in black was on offer. NIB. Good (US grey) price. Button was pushed.

I did wonder, Is it a little obsessive to have the same model in two colours?3db58eb8a77a37866e54bea117f0c125.jpgbadffe01b07479f21dc92b0bda0b3e59.jpg

To be fair, by the time you're on a watch forum the obsessive bit has probably already started anyway.

Yeah, definitely ok to have different combos.

It's taken five weeks to get my white RW back from RW service, but it finally came home last week. So seeing aa I started this thread but haven't as yet posted my pair together, here's the pics chaps

Yes. Your point ? :drinks:

This ^ pretty much sums it up   Perfectly acceptable behaviour around here, the most I've ever had is 4 of the same watch in different colours...

A few examples from my current collection:

20180124_101633

20181010_133117

20181215_182925

20190328_125154

20190530_134425

And this is the watch I used to have 4 of, also in red, black, and white, but now only the bonkers green one remains (and will never be sold, before anyone asks  ):

Yes... however... just as a point of order, just because many other people on this forum think it's perfectly normal to have duplicates in different colours, doesn't mean it's not obsessive:tongue:

The obsessive bit starts when you buy two or more of the same watch in the same colour.....

Guilty. I have two of these (one new in box and never worn), although I have a tenuous excuse.

I should sell it really. 2fb9676560a8601973984addd32eeb54.jpg

Not that you need an excuse, but I'd be interested to know what it is...... [emoji23]
I suddenly discovered this model way after it was easy to find. I scoured the internet, calling or emailing a few retailers (one in Romania if I remember) only to find that they hadn't updated their web site and didn't have stock any more.

Eventually I did find an independent watch shop in Rome who had one. At the same time I found a guy on an Irish auction site (eBid) who was selling a used one.

I was negotiating with the Irish seller over the course of a few days ( he originally wanted quite a high price) when the lady in Rome emailed to say that although I had first dibs on the watch, three other international buyers were waiting in the wings.

So I bought the new one from Rome. A day later I received a far more reasonable offer from the Irish seller and decided I'd buy that one too, and then sell whichever one on later.

When the Irish one arrived it was in pristine condition and still under warranty. And by happy coincidence the bracelet was sized exactly right for my wrist.

So the Rome one has never been worn.

But you can have different bracelets, bezels, materials, numerals all on the same watch

I also bought three NOS watches today direct from the manufacturer, one in each colour, but that makes more commercial sense.  Someone will prefer the red, or the blue, or the green

When the 'pairs' are this good, you don't need a reason, nor need to explain.  Fab.

Cheers. :)

I've more combos, but these were just the ones with different coloured dials, I also have a couple of combos with same dials but different case finish, like the Dreyfuss I had on today and Monday.

Here's the reason for my question chaps. Very happy :)

The white dial one is still with RW service. Thry take ages but I believe they are vwry thorough with the regulation process, which is appreciated. e45f816e3b59b15cfd27fd23ef73730f.jpg
