The Mappin (Mappin & Webb). Its a lovely thing, 33mm only 4mm thick and has the 'swiss' rather than rather cumbersome 'swiss made' dial. I love it. Im thinking Hirsch Sobek?

It is a Mido Commander, I believe :)

It is. But I can see the easy mistake. The Stadium is a nice alternative. Good looking too!

Best make sure it’s not a redialed PIAGET ?

Stop pi$$ing about & get the back off lad!

BTW, look good on a dark brown or black croc’ strap, IMHO.

Today, a 38mm Aidix, attributed to Rene Brandt and running on an unusual variant of the 14’’’ 15j ETA 853.

So far, the earliest confirmable date of brand registration recorded in Andreas’s archive has been 1952, but I would have tended to put this particular example in the previous decade.

Regards.

The Mappin & Webb wears lovely, cant get over how slim it is for a mechanical slightly less than 4mm in case and case back. The dome of the crystal is deeper! Ive booted it with an hirsch osiris plain in satin black. I dont think this one needs dressing up.07a007dad412cb1110095321bd224843.jpg19f8b678496ee77c41d08dc0d2e87ae6.jpg

New arrival today :)

And yes, I am very happy and have shamelessly posted this new addition on three separate threads! cb0f1625f517626ad535a014810d7149.jpgc7fd24d0076862794d420fec5ce107ae.jpgcdfaf72d2c82f926fad91d41f5fab9c4.jpg84630494311edb6576a2c19f11a13c54.jpg

Yes they look very similar, having owned both, the Stadium is good looking but the chrome case lets it down and the calibre in the Mido blows away the Poljot. And I am a Poljot fan just for the record.

Cheers Martin :)

I'm soft in my Russian watches too. The Mido is very nice. The high polish on the stainless usually isn't my thing but this is stunning

My rather belated contribution for the day  --  Panoreserve. 40mm s/s. GO Kaliber 65 manual wind.

Which leads me to thoughts about @Jet Jetski's thread on dressing up and down. Clearly, taste is a personal thing (and I'm very pleased that, in our society, we can (still) exercise individual taste)  --  but, for me, a Calatrava (which I don't have) or a Saxonia (which I don't have) goes better with jeans (which I don't think I have) than does a Submariner (which I don't have) or a Daytona (which I don't have) with a business suit (which I do have).

Yes, I know  --  brown shoes and a blue strap  --  but, at my advanced age, I am not over bothered :evil9kf:
