If anyone could advise what crown and stem I need or point me in the right direction so I can order one and hopefully get it working. I have polished the glass and purchased a strap as below.
I don't mind if the crown isn't original. Would be nice if was an original. I would rather see if the watch works before looking for original parts. If I can source a crown and stem first and go from there. As I'm totally new to watches I was looking at stems thinking they were too long not realising that they can be cut to length. I will start by buying a box of mixed stems and find a crown to fit .
buying a " a stem assortment " might be an interesting project - a chance of one in 1,000 there will be the right one in there.! who else has tried that? vin
You will need a crown with a short tube and large inner diameter to fit the case pipe, a negative set Waltham stem and perhaps a Dennison winding sleeve. I have these and many original Waltham parts in stock.

Here are some Waltham crowns, stems and sleeves. No Swiss stems will work because the stem has a raised hump which clicks to move it from hand set to wind up via the four leaves on the sleeve.
This system was patented by Aaron Dennison and is called a 'negative set'.
