Hello please help this newbie

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Much as I love watches I have joined because sadly its time (excuse the pun!) to sell my Dad's Rolex GMT Master II 16710 'Pepsi' .

I am not sure where to list it, I see there is another section but I think maybe you have to have lots of posts?  I have not listed on Ebay as I am not sure that is the way I want to go, thought I would try some watch forums and not sure I like Ebay for such expensive items, also their fees seem very high.  I must admit I have had a look on Ebay and there are plenty and all at massively varying prices, so I find this confusing too.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated and any tips of where else I could try to sell it would be most welcome.

Many thanks,

Tony

Hello Tony,

That watch is in high demand right now.  Personally I would list it with an auction house that specialise in watches like Fellows.  ebay is full of sharks and this type of watch just attracts them, but it is also full of fakes and buyers are suspicious.  Selling via a good auction house guarantees the authenticity for the buyer, so they may bid more, and you have no comeback if the watch develops a fault later.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! You will need to amass 50 posts before you can use the sales forum here, but as mentioned above, you would probably be better using one of the well known auction houses (not ebay!) for such a prestigious watch.
