Incoming - Citizen Promaster NY0087

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a watch come up on the Sales Corner of "another place" which caught my interest... But first a bit of back-story.

I got this Citizen Promaster "Lefty" (NY0040) almost exactly a year ago

Despite the nasty looking lume on the hands (which I do hope to get fixed), I really like the solid ruggedness of the watch and it sees quite a bit of wrist time especially when out walking.

The watch I saw for sale is a 50th anniversary LE, with the less than pithy code of NY0087-13EE. Here it it is, and also a side by side shot.

Very pleased with the new acquisition!

What is slightly interesting (to me at least) is that although the new one is an anniversary celebration, the case and bezel are not quite the same as the original. Sure, they are very similar, but there are differences. It is to the touch that these become more apparent. When you handle the two, the new one has more angular changes of direction, the older is more smooth and flowing. I don't believe this is just down to handling over the years, it is the way it has been designed and machined.

I'm probably just an old fashioned dinosaur, but I slightly prefer the older watch.
