Sales corner

in all fairness this forum has always been a closer knit community of friends than the dark side and most of my sales on here are already via promises, i dont think its a bad thing that this forum retains its exclusivity as a niche in this respect. I think the declining contributions are consistent with forums generally, but nevertheless the forum has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years in the specialist sections and the wruw. It seems to be doing better at the moment than it has in all my time here. I think we loose sight of that sometimes. It feels very settled at the moment in a good way to attract new members. I dont think watches generally are selling easily...like cars the world is full of bargains. Our sales section is just a sign of that rather than specific, we are in a period of stagnation.

Fair comments Nigel, love the TWF, and while I agree somewhat to your above statements. I think will a little effort fixing the sales forum issues would reap immediate rewards around for all concerned.

Cheers Martin

Thank you for the attention @Roy

my suggestion would be each item be given a 2 week listing then automatically drops out completely

price or other alterations as now are marked with a  red dot.

Yep I agree , but it should be what ever route you take on the forum to see the sales thread they should always be in order ?

I would say two weeks is enough on a forum.  As others have said if the price is right then it will sell.

However if the price is reduced in the two weeks (by a minimum of 5%?) then the two week deadline starts again, rather than have to re submit a new advert

Can anyone tell me how many active members are on this forum?

I estimate 100 properly active members, i.e. members who actually post.

This leaves a very small pool of potential buyers so I wouldn’t say price was a driving factor in items not selling. Members can always make an offer :)

There are 163 people online right now, but the vast majority are guests (or not signed in) and guests would not be able to see the SC

They are in the order they were submitted here and always have been, this list does not change :

Could they not be listed for the 3 months but without the automatic relisting ? If the seller wants them relisting after the 3 months they need to place a new advert ?

This ^ is probably the most sensible suggestion so far   I would think if something hasn't sold within 3 months, it's not going to sell anyway, so not much point automatically relisting adverts indefinitely.

They will now list for 14 days, after this period they can be renewed for another 14 days.

They will not be renewed automatically it will be up to the seller to click on renew.

We can try it and see what happens.

If you go to the sales thread via the sale link thread or view a watch on the sale thread they are different for eg o e show the omega chronostop as third and the other it’s not even on the first page
