... ish! Love this, Tuesday can't come soon enough.
Dedicated to Mr. Breedlove, US speed fiend and record breaker, this is the aptly named Shinola erm... Velocity? Thruster? Lighting? Jetstream? NO! It's the Shinola Rambler! Obvs.
Today it'll be a run out for this 1960s Onsa, they of flamboyant advertising campaigns during their not-very-low-profile existence before the "quartz tsunami" shrunk them to marketing only within Switzerland and ultimately their sale to a new owner who nowadays seems to hold the name as a sales and marketing business for various fashion brands.
This one runs on a 17j Peseux 320 and was bought some years ago from one of the many small units in a Central European indoor market where high rents mean a depressingly high turnover of individual traders. One week a unit is selling handmade crafts and, the next, it's become a hipster bar.
"My" unit had been selling assorted collectables with one small display cabinet of watches, so back I went a few days later to look at the rest of them, some of which, in retrospect, probably had some potential. Packed up, empty and gone. And although the trader remains gone to this day, at least I managed to get one relative goody before he disappeared.
1979 seiko atlanta pro golf 0139 caliber qtz...while i work out some recipes for me mums dinners from the Asda book. Feta rocket and onion toasties. Im no cook any advice?
I own and love the PRS-29A but THAT Broadarrow is just so very special indeed! The sub-seconds dial is just wonderful and you are a lucky fellow, sir. I am currently lusting after the Air Ministry edition with those gorgeous heat-blued hands and the perfect off-white dial. Why do watches generate such passion? Hmm, perhaps it is because I'm over 40 and divorced or was it the watches that caused that too?
Spotted this picture of the AM and keep looking at it like kid in a model aeroplane shop:
Here's a very poor shot of my own 29A on a lovely brown Pittards glove leather strap i picked up from the excellent Weston Watch straps:
Yes I suppose you could say i'm a big fan of Eddie's watches!
Thanks for the Broadarrow picture - pure unobtainium!
Fossil Q Hybrid for me today. This one gets quite a bit of wrist time, not for all the Bluetooth functions (they are pretty pointless) but just because I really like the look of it:
Just back today from Essex clock and watch clinic, Simon replaced the damage step rota which had failed, nice to have it back, thanks Simon for a quick return.....Bob.
