Weird and wonderful watch project

Recommended Posts

i  am new to this forum, i recently posted a topic in the watch repairers section. But i just remembered i also had a specific question i wanted to ask.

a while ago i saw my friend’s (older gentleman) he had a genuine diamond covered rolex with a shiny iridescent interrior that reflects and gives a very light rainbow reflection when moved sideways. My friend says its because the interrior (the circle which says the time). Is actually a pearl plate hence why it has such a demeanour. I was wondering if it is possible to spray/coat any watch’s interrior to give it a slight reflection like that? Without actually changing the base colour?

for example in my previous post , the interrior is that of a Black Mikey mouse with green background would it be possible to coat it or spray it with lacquer which would give it a rainbow reflection without actually making the green and black change colours?

i know it is a very weird question but i have an imagine in my mind that i want to mod my watch to and not sure if it is actually scientifically possible or not?

thank you.

I have never tried it but I guess it is possible. I would be curious to see if overtime the visibility is affected by the coating. But maybe that would depend on the coating as well? I don't really have an answer for you though..
