And a lume job.

These hands don’t have lume though over the years they have become a little bit corroded. :)

Lovely old watch i can't help thinking it deserves a better strap or braclet.

I will get my coat.

Thank you,  I think there are a number of options that would compliment the watch. The bracelet is a bonklip style one and was on it when I bought it. I left it on as in some ways it’s part of the watch’s history and being able to precisely adjust it makes it very comfortable to wear.  :)

is that a bubble back david? it looks great.

Thank you Nigel  It’s not a bubbleback case. These type of cases were I believe purely for automatics where additional space was required for the rotor. :)

I know, I was only joking.  But a good coat of luminous paint would cover up the rust.

Struggling to get a good picture of this current favourite.

Looks good i don't think ive come across the Champion, I was looking at some sellers in Japan on the bay and the crown caught my eye. It seems it was a high end seiko in the 60's and there are a few bargains in Japan if you are prepared to import one. Like this for 65 quid.

The Champion was a cheap hand winder that went on to become the alpinist. Once the word alpinist goes on the dial the price shoots up. Look on eBay. Way over priced.

similar scenario to the QR quartz i found from 1974, the forerunner of the King and Grand Quartz, i found a mint one on the bay for £51. More or less identical to my KQ. But mint. :watch:

s-l1600.jpg

this is the actual watch, id have bought it, be seemed a bit pointless having got 2 like it...went for £51

s-l1600.jpg

they were made from 1971 to 1975 and were the top line seiko quartz before the king and grand seiko, put king or grand seiko on the dial and the price goes up lots, for what is more or less the same watch.
