Watch dial cleaning or restoration

Wondering which is the better option with an old watch I have, should I have the dial cleaned or fully restored.   Know the cost of restoration would be around £150 or more cleaning cheaper.   Anyone had this done and which would be better, will cleaning make it look good, what do they do
