Daytona on the wrist today:

Haters are gonna hate but this is one heck of a watch. Such a slim case despite the chronograph movement and a very legible dial too.

Camy, 17j haven't worked out what it is yet. All suggestions welcome. 34mm from 10 to 4, but looks smaller. Giving it a chance to prove itself.

FHF/ST 96, details here: https://17jewels.info/movements/f/fhf/fhf-96-st/

Regards,

Morning,

Today, this fixed-lugs Mentor will be awakened from its peaceful slumbers for its annual wearing. Made by Bader & Hafner of Holderbank, Switzerland and ploughing on with its Baumgartner 800 claiming four jewels, which probably means one.

The “Mentor” brand name seems to date back to 1941 but this particular style of wordmark is only recorded as having first appeared in 1962 which, thanks to some excellent research by Honour, we know can’t be correct if the 1947 advert is anything to go by: https://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/111816-mentor-watches-a-history-uncovered/

Regards.

@Nigelp Do you have any ideas about my avatar?

I've seen him in Minder playing Maurice the gambler, I think?

Well I have returned from my trip back to Blighty, with 5 new to me vintage Zenith's this is one of them. A vintage Zenith Defy known as the 'Spaceman' Circa 1972 with the hi-beat cal 2552 PC. I knew it needed a new crystal and probably a case polish... It has the original signed crown and period box...

It looks like a young  Anthony Valentine , I remember him in a series called Raffles , where he played the gentleman thief .

Thanks for the identification. Interesting the link says "man size" movement, because this feels like a junior sized watch.

I've decided to have a shake up in the collection, and flip some of my TW Steels :swoon:  I've got 11 now, with various duplicates in different colours, and that is just too many.  I'd like to sell 5 or 6 soon, and get it down to a "sensible" number... :whistling:  Over the next few weeks I'll be wearing them in rotation to see which ones I'd prefer to keep, and then decide which ones to advertise.  I'll put them up for grabs on here first, before trying ebay as a last resort.

Anyway, it's the iconic CEO Canteen for me today:

Day three... sorry I'm being really boring, same watch for three days.

Not one second out in three days...honest, it is non hacking so it was three seconds slow three days ago

it is still three seconds slow, not a second out in three days?!?!, I'd be shocked if my Rolex was this accurate.

Will be back to the MM after a late lunch. 5610 now though after some DIY and current chauffeur duties - currently awaiting 710 from exhorbident emporium of follicular jiggery-pokery. Then off to the repository of cushion covers and assorted interior tat to collect an order. :mad0218:
