Morning,

This 1960s Pontiac today, with a 17j ETA 1280. Swiss-made but big in the Benelux countries, particularly Belgium, thanks in part to extensive advertising with their slogan “Tic-Tac Pontiac” and durability stunts. The brand was initially registered in 1930s Switzerland by Suprecis SA and also in Belgium by Etablissements A. Kinsbergen SA.

The original Pontiac company had gone silent by the 1980s but the dormant name was then re-registered in 1994 by Time Warner’s Belgian company TWC-Tapernoux & Cie S.A. – N.V. who, from what I can gather, didn’t actually make any watches. 2014 saw another Belgian company, Chrono Euro Diffusion SA, take over and as far as I know their version of the brand is still producing quartz-driven models today.

Regards.
