Lovely!

Would this have an Smiths (Cheltenham) movement within, as many J W Benson timepieces used quality ‘English’ movements ?

@Karrusel thanks it is a really lovely watch, I have to admit that I have never had the back off. It was serviced a few years ago and keeps very good time. I suspect it's about the same age as me but not sure how old.

Old pictures, but started the day with this (arrived back from service just over a week ago)

48490952401_5f711637f4_c.jpgSeiko Lord Matic by Alex Bennett, on Flickr

and the postman delivered this back from service earlier :)

47760079401_52907df213_c.jpgTitoni Airmaster by Alex Bennett, on Flickr

Done by two different entities, the Seiko by Watchkings and the Titoni by Mat (vintagetime24mc on ebay) both with good service, c.6 weeks turn around. The Titoni also came with a very nice letter explaining the job and the timegrapher results. Regulated to within +/- 4s, 238 degrees amplitude and 0.1ms bear error! Not bad for an old ETA 2878.

Had this in my 'to do' box for literally years. Fitted a donor movement today to finally bring it back into service. I suspect not the last thing I will be getting round to over the next few weeks....
