It always fascinates me what draws people to certain brands. There Rolex guys, Omega guys, Seiko etc....I wonder what are your favourite ‘go to’ brand on here and what draws you to them? Value for money, price, build quality, a memory/ event, product placement etc.

For me it’s Longines/ Omega.

Longines for the history of the brand and it’s bang for bucks...you get a lot of watch for the money and some lovely throwback pieces that are done very well.

Omega again because of its history with the olympics, build quality and and technology....but mainly because my grandad used to have one which fascinated me as a kid.

Im falling more in love with JLC these days, the more I learn about the brand.

Bizarrely I hate Seiko....completely irrational but it’s always the watch I had as a kid, and was wearing it during a skiing accident, I fell, the watch broke my wrist and caused all sorts of issues with compression fractures. Completely stupid reason but always associated the brand with pain lol!

I love any watch brand unless it's a fashion based brand. A brand that has it's soul purpose to provide a timepiece for purchase to enable a noble fellow human to read the time upon his/her wrist is just awesome. Whether it be a small cost quartz Casio for example or a super luxury small fortune mechanical Patek. I love them all.

Not sure I have truly favourite brands or hate particular ones either. There are many brands who have models I love, but also have models I dislike. And brands who have many models that I dislike but also some I do like.

Can’t say I favour any particular brand to be honest.

Ive owned more Seiko than anything else but not necessarily a conscious decision.

I do love my current Longines; I also loved my old Omega and I love my DHodge too.

The one brand I would love to try would be Oris.

Ill never be in the position to own a Rolex, Brietling or similar so not really worth thinking about.

Edit...Zenith Rainbow Flyback if someone wants to buy a kidney!

I don't have one particular favourite brand, I've a few brands (Seiko, Orient, Roamer, Mathey-Tissot, Vostok Europe) that I have quite a few more of their watches than other brands, but like @Yanto, I like and dislike watches from most of the brands I own. Personally it's more down to the watch rather than the brand, and some brands just happen to have more of the watches I like than other brands, but most brands have something I like.

Was just having a quick check and I've over 30 different brands in my collection, I likes a bit of variety.:laughing2dw:

Aghhhhh 30 different brands, means god knows how many watches....my head hurts just at the thought of that! I could never be a 1 watch guy but the thought of anything more than 4-6 pieces seriously stresses me out lol! (I think I have an illness lol)

In no particular order - Breitling, Omega, Vostok, Seiko, CWC, Rolex, Doxa, O&W, Tudor, Elgin, Lancashire Watch Co, Waltham, Smiths, Poljot

Also like but don't own - IWC, Audemars Piguet, Longines,

I tend to go for Tudor. To  me they are what Rolex used to be, generally a well made watch at not an excessive price(debateable). However I also have a soft spot Nomos and I would say my grail would be an a lange & sohne. Unfortunately that is probably just a dream.

I don’t have any particular brand favourite, but tend to research a watch that I like the look of, and depending on what I find, either take the plunge or dismiss (or put on wish list if it’s financially out of reach).

I have owned Omega, Oris, Longines, an old Breitling and several others over the years, but never considered Rolex, for whatever reason I just have no interest in the brand.

In a similar sentiment to previously mentioned above though - I have a spare kidney for an original Zenith El Primero or a JLC master calendar.

I do have certain brands of which I am a fan; even those companies don't always get it right every time though. As a general rule, when buying a watch, it is the individual model that I go for (or against) rather than the brand but certain brands are themselves a sort of unofficial "guarantee" that the watch will live up to certain quality standards.

What one can afford can come into it in a big way too, someone may well like certain watch brands but their interest will be limited solely because they`re probably always going to be out of reach financially, and obviously bias can come into it too, an example of that is myself, i bought a new Oris Aquis 16 months ago and i`ve grown to like the Oris brand cos i own one, that dosnt mean i dont forlornly look in watchshop windows though, but im a realist.

I'm smitten by Ulysse Nardin - I know they have a strong Russian Mafia vibe about them but the history and technology they embody is amazing if you do some digging and some of their 'Art' watches are stunning. They are however a very rare purchase for me as they aren't cheap, even 2nd hand. I'd love a marine diver chrono and a maxi marine diver, I'd sell a kidney for a freak or el toro perpetual calendar.

I really want to like Seiko as they are perfect for watch nuts, all in house, massive design, price and feature ranges but I just can't love them, I can certainly understand those that do though.

Another brand that I feel I could gravitate towards is Eterna, again great history, good technology but a bit more affordable.I would love a Super Kontiki chrono manufacture, there was one for sale on another forum a few months ago for silly cheap money (and I mean ridiculously cheap), kicking myself I didn't just raid the savings for it but it's gone.

The rest I like various models from but there aren't any other manufacturers I can think of that I would consider favourites

Almost rans:

Breitling - Probably the closest miss, I love their older stuff but their current direction just doesn't interest me. The Superocean Heritage is the perfect do (almost) anything watch though.

Grand Seiko - Love the spring drive movement but too thick and designs are just not 'me' - except the snowflake. One day.

Tag Heuer - Some almost regard this as a fashion brand and yes they have a rep for overpriced quartz but the monaco, monza and carrera lines are stone cold classics.

If wishes were horses:

Vacheron - My favourite of the 'big 3' I'd love an overseas chrono.

H. Moser & Cie - Pure Dial porn.

HYT - MAD as a bucket of turtles.

Bulgari - Only the Octo finissimo range, their snakes and logo fashion pieses are awful but the Octo is utterly amazing.

ROLEX - they do all the simple stuff better than anyone else , quality watches , great movements , perfect size watches , iconic designs ,

SEIKO - value for money , iconic designs , skx divers , marinemasters , turtles , monsters , sumos . Great history .

PANERAI - love the oversized pieces , unique crowns and dials , love their history with Italian divers etc

A. lange & sohne , Their watches and finish is simply stunning.

Patek , simply the best manufacturer of watches out there.

MB&F , for their crazy out there engineering and designs.

F.P. Journe , The hottest independent inhouse at the moment. The designs and watches are amazing. All in house small run production.

I could go on there is a lot of other greats out there. These brands for me are simply like me looking at a mansion house , super sports car , catwalk model etc. I will never own one.

Favourite brand would have to be Seiko I guess, mainly chronographs 7T32, 7T62, and 7T92 models, but also older Seiko's 1950's, 1960's

I love my Rolex watches, and I love vintage watches regardless of brand. I'm all about the watch and not so much the brand, I like a watch that can put a smile on my face, that could be made by any brand...(other than DW)

Current favourite

This answer will be boringly predictable for those who know me a bit . . . .

When I was working (and just getting into the "collecting" addiction) I used to fly every couple of months to Canada out of Heathrow Terminal Two. I made sure I always had time to have a mooch around the watch boutiques, especially Harrods.

Interestingly, after viewing many models from their panoply of brands (Omega, Longines, IWC. JLC, Hublot, Tudor, Chopard, Breitling, TAG, et al)  I always found myself drawn back to the offerings of one manufacturer: Glashütte Original. I loved the simple and clean designs, and the in-house manufacturing. This just reinforced my predilection for the place begun by my admiration for Lange. Before I knew it I had three GOs. Research led me to Nomos and Moritz Grossmann  --  both of which can hold hands (geographically) with Lange and GO  --  and so I became a German watch groupie like @Bonzodog.

That's not to say I don't appreciate some of the Swiss offerings. I have a Moser and a Zenith in my collection, both of which I love. But, I'm pretty sure there will be no further products from The "Trinity" or Rolex appearing on my credit card statement any time soon (if there were, it would be an 11.59).

So, my favourite brands;

--  GO (tick x 3)

--  Lange (if only I could find one to appeal to my heart as well as my head).

--  Grossmann (tick x 3)

--  Dornblüth (tick)

--  Moser (tick)

--  Zenith (tick)

--  Journe (would dearly love a Chronomètre Bleu, but that's currently a pipe dream)
