Great grandparent's pocket watch renovation project

Recommended Posts

Hope I'm posting this (my first post) in the right spot.......having just been passed a pocket watch believed to have belonged to one of my Great Grandparents, I'm interested to find out a little more about it before perhaps trying to restore it in some way.

First looks on the net suggest this is probably nothing special at all (I don't know anything about pocket watches) but with the family connection this for me is more about history and a mini project rather than value. I have included a few pictures below and would be grateful for any insight from members, particularly re the manufacturer, mens / ladies? (only c 35mm wide) and rough date range.

Unfortunately the condition is pretty poor, dirty, no glass, one hand (I assume there should be 2?), winding mechanism appears stuck, damaged face etc etc

Appreciate any insight or suggestions of where I might be able to look to do more research.

Many thanks,
