Help needed identifying age of Remontoir ladies watch.

Recommended Posts

I recently inherited the below watch in a bag of old broken jewellery from my Grandmother and was struck by this watch as it is so different to any I have seen before. I am struggling to find many similar watches online to give me an idea of the time period of this watch. The information I have is:

On the back hidden panel it reads " Remontoir 10 Rubis". On the back panel that flips down there are some symbols and numbers including a crown, the number "40884" and in smaller font "0800" both stamped. There is also a "17091" that looks more like it has been hand engraved.

On the back of the watch straps it says "9ct Front & Back H.G & S" and "Fidelity 524196".

Any information anyone has would be most welcome! Thank you!

Hi Dani,

Others here will probably be better able to give an approximate dating of your watch, although an image of the movement would also be helpful.

In the meantime, H.G. & S. is probably the now-closed Leamington company of Henry Griffiths & Sons  -  see here: https://www.ourwarwickshire.org.uk/content/article/henry-griffith-sons-jewel-factory

Regards.
