Is the forum slow to load at the moment?

 I don’t know about anybody else but I’m experiencing delays of sometimes about 15 seconds waiting for a topic or the Unread Content page to load.

 Other websites I use regularly don’t seem to have this problem, in fact my broadband was upgraded recently and it’s pretty fast – except here.

 Anyone else noticed this?

It is slow sometimes...to the point that the screen times out and I get a message saying 'The Watch Forum took too long to respond', or 'The site can't be reached'. No other sites are affected. I generally leave it for five minutes then come back to it and it's OK.

 Thanks, Roger. I’ve been timed out a couple of times recently, and like you have found other times when it works more quickly.  Probably those pesky people playing word games and nicking all the bandwidth. :laughing2dw:

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems to be really slow again. Sometimes it's instant, sometimes you get the spinning wheel for ages. It's the only site I use that is doing this, and we have fast cable here, so I assume it's to do with the forum's servers?

I will look into it.

There are certain times when the server is backed up that this may happen but that is during the night.
I know of a few other occasions when the CPU's get overloaded, we may have to upgrade again.

@Roy - thanks. It gets there in the end, but sometimes there's a wait!

PS. Some great features recently...attachments, collapsed quotes, +1 button, light/dark...the forum is really good to use now!

@Roy

Ive been looking at loading speeds more closely. Sometimes it’s instantaneous for several minutes then goes slow.

Main culprit seems to be the Unread Content button. It’s almost always slow, anything from 10 seconds to a 504 Gateway Timeout.

I've just looked at the logs and there have been three CPU surges in the past 6 hours, one was when I was messing in admin and doing various searches.

If it starts happening too much then I will have to upgrade the server. This will cost double what we are paying though :(

Personally I wouldn't worry about it @Roy - The problems with slow loading are not happening all the time, so people just need to be patient and either wait or come back to it later.  It's not like we have  depended on the forum to keep us all sane during the past year of lock down.... er.... is it...? :crazy5vh:

Well just for info, in the last 30 minutes, when I tried to submit my post in the grail thread, it didn't work and I got the time out message and generally everything is very, very slow. Luckily, with the grail thread, one of the best features here came to my rescue. I had to log out and in, but my post was saved in full by the auto save function! :thumbsup:
