Today this 1950s German-made Vidar, the makers of which remain a matter of speculation and, mercy of mercies, I won’t bore you with details of how various “inconclusive conclusions” were reached :)

The movement deserves a brief mention  -  a 17j Guba 1100SC by Gustav Bauer of Ellmendingen, near Pforzheim, and a calibre sufficiently rare for it not to have been known to any of the main archives. However, that has now been remedied on one of them.

What diameter are these?

The Vodolaz is 58mm excluding crown, 79 inc, & 23mm deep, the Parnis is 60mm excluding crown guard, 77mm inc & 24 mm deep. As you can imagine both are fecking heavy. As I`ve mentioned before - you don`t have to be an ape to wear them but it helps......

It must be a massive instruction booklet with your watch, wow

Nope. Simple. The inner time disk sets and rotates the same as a 24 hr GMT  hand. You set it to the required time zone and read the time off the outer 24hr scale.
