Title says it all really, what the consensus on the best hing to do with your quartz watches ? is it best to leave them ticking away, or pullout the crown to stop the movement whilst they are not being used for long periods of time?

All pulling the crown out does is stop the hands, the movement keeps running. Also pulling out the crown could compromise the seal and might allow ingress of moisture. I leave mine running, only exception if it is analogue-digital I turn off the digital display.

If you are looking at long term storage (year or more) probably best to remove the battery

I do exactly the same, my X-33 digital display get's switched off but all the others I keep going. I like the fact that I can just pick quartz watches up and go, and batteries are cheap.
