New in ... and it's a keeper! - Ball Watch

Recommended Posts

Especially poignant as I lost the identical model, in red, in 1980, whilst chasing the 121 bus up Oldham Street in Manchester.  You know how it is, you hear something drop, quick glance around and presume it was from someone else in the crowd, get on the bus, reach into your pocket for your 10p and realise your pocket knife has gone.

Replacing it was damned expensive, but that's Swiss quality, m'lad, and it came with a free watch.  Definitely shopping there again!

904L stainless, tritium tubes that will be good long after I am, bracelet was lovely, except for the butterfly clasp, which is great as far as it goes but not my fastening of choice.  Irrelevant really though.

Not bad for a freebie.

That’s a lovely Victorinox! Must go and find mine now.

I like the Ball. That’s a particularly smart dial design. Very nice!!!

Do you change straps to preserve the original bracelet or are you just not a fan?

Both really - my Tag is on a bracelet and has been for over 25 years, as is my Armand Nicolet, my 'posh watches'.  This needs to be practical and earn a crust.

Thanks, the strap is 20mm CWC vintage grey.

Lovely watch and nato suits well. :)

I have done that a few times now - bought a watch because it needed to suit a particular strap I had lying around!  I bought the citizen titanium diver for this strap originally, after having taken it off the Zelos when putting that on rubber.  But then the citizen arrived  and the lugs were 22mm, not 20mm as stated in the advertisement. So I did the sensible thing and have ordered a custom NATO for the titanium diver.

And then I did the not-so-sensible thing of buying yet another watch for the 20mm strap.

Good excuse though, you can't ljust leave empty straps lying around ...
