Seiko logo at 9 o'clock (CW were late to the party!)

I've got a 1972 Seiko 5 automatic with the Seiko logo at 9 o'clock rather than the more normal 12 o'clock.  Not knowing that much about the subject, I was wondering if that logo positioning is/was common with Seikos?  I've had a look via Google and it doesn't seem to be that common.  I know that there are those who don't like the Christopher Ward watches with the logo at 9 o'clock.

I am not sure if I hate that or not. I can see how it balances the day/date....but 9 o’clock...really!  May be it is too balanced?   CW are worst because their name is so much longer. I wish when the founders were trying on brand names that they picked something shorter and punchier.
