And since I noticed the date was right on this 3133, I think I will give it an outing for the rest of the day

... better wind it and set the time too I guess!  Maybe when I retire I will wear a watch with no hands, just a date window.  "What time is it?".  "28th".

Morning,

Today this German-made Dugena with “their” 17j Dugena 1188, actually a later version of the PUW 361, so it probably dates from about the end of the ‘60s.

Its progenitors’ roots go back to 1880s Switzerland but following amalgamations and name changes of various enterprises, the Dugena brand name was only created in 1942, derived from Deutsche Uhrmacher-Genossenschaft Alpina (German watchmaker cooperative Alpina) and headquartered in Germany.

Highly successful in the ‘60s and ‘70s, Dugena thereafter went on the slide under successive different ownerships and as at October 2020, the brand, now inactive, was up for sale yet again along with its by then stablemate, Laco Watch Co.
