I've not been this excited to strap my watch on since, well, yesterday.

The good news being that it maintained precision overnight vertically, crown at 3!

The case looking fine to me for 75 yes old.  And the logo just hanging in against the patina.

A second day for my new arrival:

To be honest, is there any better feeling than wearing that watch that you took a bit of a punt on, half expected to not really like that much as it is outside of your 'normal', but then immediately bond with and find brings you a smile each time you notice another little detail?

Morning,

French-made FeDeX today, the solitary brand attributed to Fernand Briot of Charquemont. This one runs on a 15j Cupillard 233-60 and, with its fixed stud carrier, probably dates from the 1950s.

The company was established in 1913 and seems to have survived, latterly as Briot-Amstutz, until the 1970s.

Regards.

Oh, I need one of those for a gift for my son, Felix Dexter, who is nicknamed FeDex for obvious reasons (he's always late!)

Seiko TUNA for me on a dark navy n red stripe Cousins NATO (extreme value for money).

The TUNA first came out from Seiko in 1975, my birth year, and I bought this 'Save the Ocean' version when I was completeing a Wave energy module on my Uni course.

Its easy to find justification for another watch!

Excuse the bobbly jumper but its dog friendly while home working.

New in yesterday and photographed in the early hours of this morning, after I'd done a Polywatch job on the crystal. It's a Modaine Sky Hawk, made by - wait for it - Fabrique d'Horlogerie Neuchâtel somewhere around 1960. Inside is a Felsa 4002, packed with 30 fine Swiss Rubis and I now have a furrow in my index finger from setting the date. I've been looking for one of these for a while though, so the pain was worth it. :)

Although Ranfft dates the movement to 1955, I think this must be a bit later. Erwin Bernheim bought into Neuchâtel in 1958, around the time he registered "Sky Hawk". "Modaine", with the clock and mountains logo, was registered the following year. The company didn't become Mondaine Watch Co until 1967. Here's a Davoine advert from 1961.

I say little but that modded bracelet is a 3cm lug. Just to give you the scale of this thing.

Its heavier than my phone

And this is SV's phone:

My new arrival gets a minute on the wrist

Before being set aside with its sibling, to be used and abused at a later date when I begin my first "playing with the movements" project when I get some spare time

This might have to become my profile picture
